Funny you ask because I've been told the head equipment guy is an *ss as well.

It is really sad just how toxic a good portion of this staff has been for years.

Honestly, and this is not just piling on, I truly believe this staff is one of the worst in all of D1 from top to bottom.

He looks like a complete goober and I cannot believe he holds the position he currently does. But perhaps I'm misinformed. I don't play football at SMU.

I've never seen a d-line actually decrease in strength (not sure about size, I'd love to compare last year's roster to this years) like this year. McCarthy on OL hasn't put on a pound since last year, and I don't remember the tackles getting this physically dominated, even early in the year against big 12 competition.

Don't mean to dog pile. Despite being a huge fan of Vic and being extremely annoyed when June let him go, from the times I've talked/worked with Mel he's seemed nice enough and knowledgeable enough. But you gotta admit, this is pretty funny...

"deLaura attended the University of Hawaii before transferring to Portland State. Upon completion of his eligibility, deLaura received free-agent contracts with the Atlanta Falcons and Washington Redskins. However, a leg injury prior to training camp in Atlanta ended his professional career before it began."

Would be interesting to see how he has stayed up with the newest programs in conditioning and strength since this seems to be an always changing field......or has he been like his boss who hired him and still doing things the way they were done 10 years ago?

Bingo! The weight room has numerous Vertimax machines that they don't even use. All Mel has to do is watch some YouTube videos to figure it out!

Good riddance to this clown, definitely one of the worst of June's cronies.

What are you talking about? Coach Mel is fantastic and the guys have a lot of respect for him.

What are you talking about? Albert is great too and the equipment staff is great too! I can tell you first hand, the same players who complain about the equipment staff are the ones who don't treat them with respect.

i'm interested to learn who your son is, he sounds like quite the whiner. However i will say that Mel is definitely one of the least qualified people on the staff (that's saying something)

Players respect Mel? Absolutely not...
However I will agree that those who are disrespectful to the equipment guys are likely the ones that get sh*t on. Such as footballdad's kid.
