Taylor, in my opinion has the makings to be a solid player for SMU. Area of concern for me are his ability to move laterally. Our NG is not real big but VERY fast and explosive which gave Taylor fits in our game. If he got his hands on him then Taylor did just fine but fortunately for us he didn't touch our guy very much. Plays very extended causing him to be top heavy in his run blocking. This is his weakness right now as viewed by myself and all the coaches on our staff as well as his own.

With this said though I'm not trying to bash the kid. With work and good coaching as he is going to receive from SMU this is a problem that can be fixed especially if they move him from center. Just hope he doesn't come in too heavy or his mobility problems are going to be amplified. I look forward to seeing him develop and become a great player for our Mustangs!

Duhe, O'Guin, Atchinson, Nwangu and I believe Fontana before his injury. Didn't Collins have problems with endurance as well or was that Atchinson. Huahulu had to set a goal to lose 25 pounds after getting to about 330. Does anybody know how big Josh Lereibus got when he was working out on his own?

Got an update today on Lasecki, who reportedly is "a solid 305."

I know your memory is shot, but, I was standing by you in the spring, and we were talking about how good he was carrying the extra weight.

To those of you who say Lasecki was not highly recruited, one could say the same about players like Zach Line, Taylor Reed and Emmanual Sanders.

What ever happened to Nwangu? I never heard one word about this guy after signing day a few years back...did he quit football? transfer?

Stallion wrote:well gaining 40-50 pounds in less than a year often leads to putting on the wrong kind of weight just like the multitude of offensive lineman coming through this program every year from high school. Hop;efully with the powerlifting that's not an issue. Its amazing-I've read numerous instructions by SMU Coaches through recent years NOT to do this but it seems to happen every year and every year several waddle through their first year out of shape and overweight. I hope Lasecki hasn't fallen into this trap of thinking you've got to be 320 by your freshman year.

Not always. I wrestled 176 lbs as a senior. One year of raw eggs, protein powder, Blue Bell banana cream pie ice cream, animal packs and a serious weight training program at Doug's Gym downtown with a friend who was a professional bodyguard, and I was 217 lbs. with 18" arms, just shy of an 18" neck, and a 33" waist. That's a net gain of 41 lbs., and I wasn't trying to gain weight (just wanted to get strong).

We just never had a serious training/lifting regimen in high school, so when I learned how to do it right and got motivated a little, I just kinda blew up.

18 inch arms? I am visualizing a T-Rex. I guess you were the "master of your domain". :D

Looks like the freshmen (except one) aren't on there. Roster just isn't updated yet.

And to our friend Peruna Punch: Blue Bell banana cream pie ice cream? That was part of your nutritional plan?

I want to go on that diet.

You have to go to the PF.com home page every day. Photo of the Day rotates (it was a photo of Lasecki squatting what looked like an absurd amount of weight).
