Re: Commitment No. 7
I don't know anyone who professes to idolize JJ - I don't, I assume Hal doesn't and I clearly gather you don't, either - and yes, a message board is for the expression of opinions. But repeating the same thing over and over and over and over and ... on here doesn't change what happens inside the coaches' offices. While we're at it, should we call out every player who doesn't score as many touchdowns as Zach Line or collect as many sacks as Ja'Gared Davis? Does that mean the other players aren't doing anything? Of course not. Don't get me wrong: anyone who follows (and inexplicably cares about) who gives out how many offers sees the same things you do. Nobody is arguing the numbers (if those reported numbers are accurate), but what does blasting the other coaches accomplish? You say the coaches read this board ... do you really think they don't know who has extended how many offers? They know a lot better than we do or those recruiting sites. You're not telling them anything new, are you? I don't recall anyone saying they idolize JJ or saying they are content being average. But choosing not to rip the coaching staff to our best seasons in decades does not mean anyone is satisfied. Maybe they're just more discreet with their concerns and choose to are them to people who can make changes.

Why don't you scrutinize players as long as they are trying? And who gets to decide whether their effort is 100% and thus whether they are exempt from scrutiny on the message boards or not?NickSMU17 wrote:They may be the best in decades but they also make the most money...You don't scrutinize players, as long as the effort is 100%...
However at 2.75 mil a year, and assts. making BCS $$$, they need to be held accountable...
Amazing how in any other situation you would think the same thing...A company you hold stock in, your own workplace, ect. but when it comes to this place we are supposed to suck these guys off...
It doesn't bother you at all that it seems 1.5 guys are doing the work of the entire staff...Where are these guys? You don't ever ask what's going on?

And are you saying that because they made less, you didn't hope or want or expect Cavan and Bennett to win?
Coach Hill helped re-vamp the strength program when he got here. Should he be mad at the other coaches for doing less in that regard (even though they might well have had some input that wasn't reported by the media)? Other coaches do more with the outreach trips to Samoa. Should we be mad that not everyone does the same amount? The fact is that unless you're on the staff, and none of us is, you don't know exactly what each coach is doing in different areas of his job. If they were dropping the proverbial ball that badly, they wouldn't be on the staff.NickSMU17 wrote:It doesn't bother you at all that it seems 1.5 guys are doing the work of the entire staff...Where are these guys? Oh please. That's Stallion's schtick. Even if you have covered it, you might be shocked to find that not everyone here has been memorizing your stands on every issue. Please explain.Mitch McConnell wrote:I covered those in posts/threads over the last couple of years.

Mitch doesn't like June Jones. He prefers a good running game over a passing game.ponyboy wrote:Oh please. That's Stallion's schtick. I agree with Ponyboy, I have not memorized every poster's stand on every issue. Also, poster's stances on issues can and do change (sometimes even more often than they change screen names), so I do not think it is out of line to ask for elaboration when someone posts something like that.mustangxc wrote:Mitch doesn't like June Jones. Mustangxtc - there is a big difference between not like someone's offensive system and saying they are not who they say they are. Certainly June has been upfront about his offensive system for years, so I do not think that could be what Mitch meant when he said that June is not who he says he is.

It is not the sign of a bunch of winners that we have gone from congratulating a fine athlete for picking SMU to carping at our own coaches and each other like a bunch of pitiful drunk old ladies. Y'all need to snap out of your defeatist mentality. Its annoying and sad (for you).

You guys can talk around the lazy Texas recruiting all you want. The facts speak clearly to anyone that has the slightest understanding of recruiting. The numbers don't lie. SMU didn't do its homework in Texas, didn't do its legwork in Texas, didn't get its offers out to the right players in time and ain't doing very well in Texas either.
