What is the motto for the season?

"One game at a time" I think...

Throw it in there, seems a little bland otherwise...but a great idea none the less.

"Join the stampede." I think..

It's an info billboard - nothing fancy.

Now that SMU owns the bairds land on 75 can we advertise there going forward? Build our own sign or advertise events on the side of the data center, tennis courts or whatever is going to be built there?

Not sure the plans for the signage there but that would make sense.

In our eyes, this works a little bit better than yards signs.

A video marquee like the Wynn on that spot works for me

It is next to impossible to build new billboards in Texas. Lady Bird Johnson was the main driver in that.

Lady Bird's rule is only for Interstate Highways and typically outside city limits. Is 75 considered an interstate?

I appreciate what y'all are doing and all, but the fact that we have several threads on the board begging the faithful for additional donations just to get basic advertising going is depressing. 3 billboards at 1200 each per week for 7 weeks should be something covered by any decent athletic department's budget, and if it isn't, I would think the AD or the coach could somehow figure out how to donate back to the school the small portion of their own fairly large salaries to advertise the team that the $25,000 represents.

Between donation to the Mustang Club, 4 season tickets for football, 4 for basketball, a Boulevard spot, (not to mention donation to the band for scholarships and band hall), I'm already shelling out quite a bit of my salary to this program. And I don't mind doing so and will continue to do so, but I just find it ridiculous that we can't find a way to fund basic items that seem so automatic for other schools.

At this rate, we'll probably only do the UTEP game but would like to do more. It's just a small branding effort...

Agree 100% that basic marketing should be part of the program - hard to believe, however the school has cut the AD budget almost in half and many staff cuts. The fball marketing budget is very minimal...Some of these guys are doing the jobs of 3 people. With a billion dollar endowment it's mind boggling. Yes, this should be covered..remember in '08 when they blanketed the city? - they had twice as much budget. Don't quote me on this but I think Jones helps fund the Operation Sellout efforts.

Right now we have Thad's video, Operation Sellout, and this. I am not sure how far we are along on Operation sellout. Between season tickets and required donation, boulevard spot, MC lunches, and away games - I think most are tapped out.

I don't know the budget on the TV program, but that takes up a huge chunk of change. Then, you have to fundraise for locker rooms, Moody, Golf, Tennis, Swimming, travel, etc.

I wish we could advertise on radio, newspaper, TV commercials, billboards, and everything possible.
