Considering the student body has not been at 5500 for a long time, I find it difficult to believe that it will stay at about 5500.

Undergraduate enrollment for the past few years (from SMU's Institutional Research website):

2004 - 6208
2005 - 6489
2006 - 6296
2007 - 6176
2008 - 6240
2009 - 6228
2010 - 6192

Also, contrary to what we've been told, it appears that applications to the university have been relatively flat over the past few years:

In the SMU Daily Campus that was around this weekend while attending Family Weekend, there was an article about the year's freshman class. Based on the numbers quoted in the article, the number of applicants were significantly up versus 2010 and the actual acceptane rate was only 43.5% (not 60% that was quoted in an earlier post), significantly down from the past. It also stated that 24.5% of those admitted actually enrolled.

60% was the Fall 2010 acceptance rate. If your info is correct (we will know when the institutional research for 2011 is published), then our ranking should go up quite dramatically next year.

That's a bit of a bummer, but 6 spots within that range is nothing to be concerned about.

Saw we now have a new admissions dean per SMU's website. Seems interesting, not sure what to make of his experience.
