mrydel wrote:The reason that Jones said he was moving Wimbley to offense was because he heard that Mason was going to redshirt him. So it cannot be a surprise that it was burned. And I will be surprised if we see much more of him much the same as with Pope last year. I do not understand the thinking sometimes but apparently they feel they can continue to recruit up and do not need to keep many around longer than 4 years.
I definitely think there's some truth in your theory mrydel.

Check the use of Pope last year.

On the participation chart I counted 9 players that played in their first game this year. Some were last years redshirts, and some may have played last year, not sure. But 9 got on the field for the first time this year.

I think what you are seeing is that they want to redshirt nlemchi. Williams is the third down back, Wembley the power guy. If Line gets hurt, they need another power back and JJ is anticipating that need. I think also as Wlmbley loses weight, you will see him pop up on kickoff coverage.
Over the course of the next month, I would anticipate significant change in the two deep. The frosh will get worked in over the Memphis game, catch a break in the TCU game, and then they bye week will be full competition to win spots. In the second half of the season, there is going to be significant rotation all over the field. By the time the Houston game comes around, they are going to want to have a nickel corner instead of a nickel safety.
On a side note, not a redshirt, but I thought Nwabuike looked really good out there tonight. Bench Rogers, push Joyner back to MLB and play Nwabuike out wide and I think we have something.

I have no problem with trying Wimbley as our goal line battering ram, but why not line up under center because EVERYONE in the stadium knows what is coming. That's the part I did not understand. I know we lined up under center in some goal line situations last year. What gives? When it's time to line up and play big boy football....just do it!

Correct. Lack of doing that and a quick snap due to time running out is what I believe caused the fumble.

Does any definitive list exist of the players from the 2011 class who were redshirted for the whole season?

There are quite a few that didn't redshirt you have to go back and look at the roster and look at who is on the participation chart and who isn't

Look at the freshman on the roster and compare to the chart. If not on the chart they were redshirted.
