I'm not holding my breath, though. This kind of thing should not get posted unless and until there is actual credible evidence of it due to the ridicule we should get for even suggesting it as a possibility. Seriously, most SEC fans think SMU is So. Miss.
yeah, but they know that Ole Miss and Miss St., would blackball southern.

Why wouldn't the SEC at least give a passing thought to Dallas? Does St Louis and a few thousand more Mizzou fans really do much for them? West Virginia? The SEC has enough eyeballs already. Dallas would give them an unbelievable foray into Texas as whole. At this point, would the Aggies actually like to really stick it to the Horns and advocate a Metroplex team? This is chess, not checkers.

well, if we joined the SEC, at least we would be able to beat the aggies. they can't beat anyone in the conf.

SEC latest conference rumored to be considering SMU
Part of the attractiveness of SMU, the sources said, stemmed from the fact that as a private university with lofty academic standards, SMU could become "the Vandy (Vanderbilt) of the West Division" of the SEC.
Sigh...
and I thought the purpose of all these machinations and rumors of AQ status was to regain Football Prowess, not to be relegated to Vandy status.
Perhaps the SEC should contact Rice in our place.

While I don't doubt PonyPride's sources, I am under no illusions that SMU will be invited to join the SEC. I suppose it never hurts to dream, and we might even apply (like ECU has applied to the Big East), but I don't know that anyone should have even a sliver of an ounce of "hope" that this may possibly happen.

This will not happen...I heard this rumor floating around some LSU sources. Maybe the same ones. There is a good chance that we will receive a Big East invite but nothing will be definite until Missouri makes their decision.

I have thought all along we will either end up in the SEC to balance out Vanderbilt or in the Big 10 to balance out Northwestern.
This news is not surprising.

Or PAC 12 to balance out USC
or Sunbelt for Troy
