Take Tulsa and Houston and go to the MWC. CUSA shrivels in to near 1AA. That's a strong non-AQ league. Keep winning, build the IPF, move up later.

MWC trying to gain waiver to be AQ for the next couple of years. Their case was just strengthened by TCU not going to Big East and Pitt leaving Big East as well.

I'm starting to really admire Boise. All they do is win, conference be damned.
Pac 12 isnt gonna take them. Big XII isnt going to take them. No one's going to take them. And they'll be top 10 again this year.
Too bad UH isnt ranked. If they were, and climbing, it would be good for them to run the table (bad for us), go to a BCS game, then move to MWC where Boise St & UH would have BCS points

Seriously, anybody even entertaining "what we should do about football," take a deep breath, go walk outside, and enjoy the sunshine. We survived Pye, we'll survive anything. It won't happen this afternoon, but there's a mindset on here that clearly needs to be outside enjoying nature and being happy.

THANK YOU. THE 'NIGHTMARE SCENARIO' HAS ALREADY OCCURED. We are simply picking up the ashes.
And would people please stop talking about the MWC? The damn thing almost fell apart when BYU announced they were going independent! They are NOT a quality football conference outside of BSU. They are just as irrelevant as CUSA is now.
PLEASE quit trying to hitch our wagon to anything that shows life - it makes us look cheap. JUST WIN.

That's just silly. Add SMU/Houston, possibly Tulsa and the MWC is an AQ league next go around. They are a better football conference now than the Big East. Just take the TCU route. Go MWC, smack around those guys for a few years, move on up.
Beyond that, our entire strength in football is SoCal & Texas. Imagine Klemm recruiting for SMU out west, when he can actually say we'll play a few games a year on the left coast. As for hoops, MWC feels like the old WAC16 which was more fun than even the SWC.

Do you really see SMU "smacking around" Boise St. for a few years?

If MWC somehow gets a AQ spot (not sure how likely that is) than we take an invite no questions asked.
People who think this is the final realignment and things will be stuck in stone forever have fallen out of touch with all of this. If we keep winning and crash the BCS party, someone will take us. 5 big conferences are emerging, and if they all are to go to 16 teams, then there are plenty of spots left to fill.

Smack around maybe a little strong. Compete against? Yes. Beat? Yes. Smack around? Not so much.

Not necessarily, but you don't get anywhere beating the crap out of CUSA teams. We'd have troubles w/all sorts of teams in the MWC. That said, we'll be very competitive, and all this moving up talk is irrelevant if we aren't ready. I know pretty much all our hoops coaches over the past 3 or 4 years, and not 1 thinks SMU is situated to compete w/BCS schools still, just based on admin, admissions, majors, academic support, compliance nonsense etc. We can sure get alums to build facilities, but the infrastructure still isn't in place to go head to head every week w/legit programs. Baby steps. Beat the MWC first, worry about guaranteed AQ later. Truth be told, last thing I want is to be Vandy of the SEC West. For cash, they've sold their soul, and really don't compete w/any regularity. eff that. We're a small private that has basically no success in 25 years in either revenue. The SEC would be laughable.

Beyond Boise, I'm not excited about anyone out in the Mountain West...maybe WE try to raid the Big East and pick up USF (for East) and Louisville (for West). Syracuse/Pitt going to the ACC? Consider C-USA a fall back. With the Big East (football) blown up, we are competing with the MWC for 6th AQ status. If I'm the BCS, I like SMU, UH, Tulsa, UCF, USF, Louisville, ECU over Boise, Nevada, Fresno, SDSU, Wyoming, New Mexico, Air Force, Colorado State. I don't think they really care about screwing over Boise, and hell, we'd offer them an olive branch as well.

I like the enthusiasm, but no way would a team leave the Big East before it completely melts down.

More like the Big East will raid C-USA and pick up UCF and ECU. This would strike a blow to C-USA.
