i think the Big East would take as many as 12-14 schools who are willing to play football only. They need a championship game for visibility. they can't be as arrogant as the Big12.

Amen, might as well just lock up the doors of the football offices. It's all over!!

I get a big kick out of someone's "OMG IT'S THE NIGHTMARE SCENARIO TAKING PLACE!!! WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO PLAY WITH UTSA, UNT, LA TECH, AND TROY. WE NEED TO BULLDOZE THE STADIUM AND TURN IT IN TO A CRICKET FIELD."

Before we jump to any conclusion about BE (or Big 12 or SEC or MWC), are all the above teams in or out of the BE conference?
So, add the 3 services academies (AFA, Navy and Army) to 6, 5, 4 or 3 member schools?
Add UCF?
Add ECU?
Add Temple?
Add Texas schools, SMU and UH?
They claim total FB and BB membership will not exceed 18. True or false? Remember, the academies won't bring BB or other sports?
So, until the BE locks in its current members, this is a moving and unsettling target.

Have to convince BE to go to at least 12. Otherwise we are left out again. We may not even get in at 12.

There is no chance that happens, we'll be playing UNT soon or Ford will be torn down next year

I don't know why Southern Miss shouldn't be in the picture-a lot of times they aren't mentioned but they've had a strong program for decades. I would think they would be a no-brainer if the Football schools are voting. I can see resistence from BB schools. Plus as bad as Memphis is right now they have a lot of history with Louisville, Cinncinnati etc.

Because they deliver no market whatsoever. Boise State has had a significantly better program for the past ten years and is in a slightly larger market and still hasn't gotten a sniff from an AQ conference- why would USM?

I'm so glad your standards for athletic competition are playing the utsa's,unt's and troy's of the world. Some of us can remember when we actually played (and competed against) top level D-1 teams.

Big East needs an identity and a game plan, not something from Column A and Column B:

Right now it seems to be "what have you done lately?"
And so miss is 3rd in a small state. Not really bringing anything in terms of TV
But I agree with you about their last decade or so in terms of commitment and performance.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant, you nailed it. My standards are for SMU to wind up in a conference with those benchmark institutions. What an astute inference from my comments.
