"breaks the rule of 5'6" receivers". That's funny. Sadly true, and funny.

Who said they were top two in metroplex before the season?

If you have been watching much SMU football you would have noticed that our receivers are not really our problem. We can't get the ball to them that is what the problem is.

I hate to say it, but I agree. I feel like we have always had pretty solid talent at the position, just not anyone who can consistently get the ball in their hands.

Stogner is a good kid who I would love to see have a scholarship given to.
And as a bonus, he's got a number of relatives who live in town, in addition to his immediate family, so when they all show up to the games, we're solving our attendance problems as well.

You mean those 5'6" guys like Gehrig Dieter (6'3"), Bradley Haynes (6'4"), Arrius Holleman (6'3"), Keenan Holman (6'1"), Marcus Holyfield (6'1"), Jeremy Johnson (6'0"), Nyle Johnson (6'1"), Darius Joseph (6'0"), Cole Loftin (6'0"), Steven Nelson (6'0"), Bobby Waid (6'4") and Ryan Walker (6'0")?

Isn't Guinyard and Thompson also close to 6 foot?

Re: Dalton Stogner/Highland Park
I don't know anything about this guy except you said he is 6'4", strong, and has good hands. Thats good but what about his speed and his vertical leap ? There are a lot of tall receivers in high school that are not good enough to play D1A football. Tell the coaches and let them see his film. They can tell pretty quick whether or not they are interested.

I saw him leaping over the Everman secondary for touchdowns.

Re: Dalton Stogner/Highland Park
ask McIlhenny or Dave Richards if this guy is worth a scholarship. They go to the Scot games.
Like i said for you old guys that remember Mitchell Glieber-just like him.

If he recovers from his injury he is way better then glieber - all respect to glieber
He made a corner in Sherman who is committed to baylor look like a 9th grader- owned him. This guy is legit - unless they are scared of the injury.

Re: Dalton Stogner/Highland Park
Well we do have Dieter and our positions of need are o line, d line, and secondary. I say we get that covered first because do not have enough scholarships left to take a chance on an injured player at that position IMO.

Have to disagree a little. Most of the production was from two guys, and the rest were talented but very inconsistent. Plus, QB production should improve with our two options, Gilbert and Padron. Not discounting your point, but a solid big receiver is valuable.
Also, I think it would be good to reestablish an HP-SMU connection with players. Even in our best years in the 80's we had a lot of HP players who contributed, and it might help attendance to a minor degree.
