http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story ... e-exit-feeAccording to a source with direct knowledge of Friday's Big East conference call, the conference has sent conditional invitations to Houston and SMU for all sports and Air Force and Boise State for football only. The Big East informed the four schools that if all four agree to join the Big East then the remaining schools would agree to an increase in the exit fee from $5 million to the $10 million range to show a commitment to the incoming schools. However, the six remaining football playing schools won't commit to raising the fee unless all four commit to joining the Big East in football with Houston and SMU joining in all sports.
Meanwhile, the Big East sent a separate all-sports invitation to UCF and are expecting the Knights to accept, the source said.
.....
The Big East also is working on a separate deal with Navy, the source told ESPN, but the Midshipmen are skeptical of accepting.

guys guys...let me speak as an attorney. This is all posture. I am sure there are liability reasons for not accepting an invite before you formally receive one, or for interference with an existing contract. BE has a K with their members. All of these schools have Ks with their respective conferences.
Remember A&M to SEC? back and forth. news cycle said yes, then no, then maybe...SEC said "we have come to no agreement"...etc.
Calm down.

I think you're right NC, its just easy to be skeptical when its our team. I hope they figure out a way for this to take effect in 2012.

I call BS on the Katz story where he mentions this. If you read carefully he's basically getting his Boise and AFA info from the MWC office, not from the schools themselves. The quotes are all from folks who are speculating on what AFA and Boise are going to do.
The only quote from the Big East about any speculation is Navy who seems to be on the fence.

Has anyone seen that Boise and AFA are staying reported anywhere other than ESPN or someone just quoting ESPN? I am finding it hard to trust this report because ESPN had been wrong so many times on all the dealings with the Big East.

that's the only place i saw it, and it was Katz reporting that AFA & BSU voted on the merger, with that info coming from the MWC offices. doesn't mean anything in my book.

Could this just be posturing until official invites are made?
