Maybe so....maybe they have another school for basketball only that would get them to 18? For sure UCF, UH and SMU they want for all. Or are they planning on 1 Basketball to leave to get to 16 anyway? Louisville going away?

16 vs. 17 is 100% not the hold up. Big East was all set to have 17 BB teams with TCU (and Pitt and Cuse). See the link i left above.
Some people simply forget just how bad it was...

ah, youre right, when i hit refresh it now says 17. And i didn't realize they already crossed that bridge emotionally when they took TCU. we should be good then.

17 is actually a good number. 16 conference games in a full round robin, 8 home and 8 away. The only loss is home-and-home rivalries, which can be added if you are willing to play 18 conference games (16+2 permanent rivals each).

It's ALL good. Moody will fill up and be rocking as there are many basketball fiends here that will come and watch these special teams play and will become SMU fans in the process.

I know, but it seems like only two out of the three between UCF, SMU and Houston can participate in basketball unless the Big East is willing to have 17 hoops participants. Football is driving this no doubt, but 17 vs 16 for bball could be part of the holdup.

In the past, BE has limited BE baskeball championships to the top 16 ( as I recall) teams with the non-qualifying schools pretty much done for the season.
