I think he is referencing ESPN's latest offer for all sports which was turned down. Then pitt and cuse left which happened after the date of this piece. Current payout is 35MM per year total.

Before pitt and cuse split, rumor was nbc/comcast would offer 14MM for FB and 6MM for hoops for a total of 20MM for FB schools. That is gone now for obvious reasons.

Still way more money than Cusa and AQ that will likely NEVER be taken away despite what many posters spout about.

As Ponyte has pointed out many times, you cannot pull the AQ from a conference with the media markets that are covered by the BE especially now adding Dallas and Houston. Ways will be found to keep it alive.

It feels much easier to sue for what is lost vs what you want to gain.

$11 MM / school was the offer from ESPN that was turned down in spring 2011. I believe it's currently $8-9 MM. $20 MM was the rumored goal of the next TV contracts that are set to open for negotiation in September 2012. New contract, I believe, will go into effect in 2013.

Not a chance, he'll get canned by 2014.

we will be positively surprised with the new contract when it hits -

also - it will be nice to get a big basketball check from conference tournament play.

The Pitt AD only fires winning coaches. Johnny Majors, Frank Solich, Dave Wannstedt.

I think he is auditioning to buy the Chargers.
