Every single Big East team is fighting to get out. And there are more moves in the future to come

The only thing that has happened is WVU leaving, thats it. And we hear on the "NEWS" that the Big East is dead. Again, i keep saying this, how is it dead? there are still 5 football and 13 total schools in the conference, not dead, not even close.

WV leaving is something that was expected. There is nowhere for Louisville to go, they are going to have to "EMBRACE THE BIG EAST".

Just because someone wants out, doesn't mean they get to. See Carolina, East.

Maybe some teams that want to leave will change their mind if some quality teams like SMU, cougar high, BSU, AFA and Navy join up.

Hey I've been on the Big East bandwagon from Day 1 strongly arguing its the best deal NO MATTER WHAT-but all those teams will leave with the first offer from ANY other BCS conference. Let's understand what we are getting into from the start. And no these new teams do not excite the remaining teams-we depress them and make them want to leave even more because all their Rivals are in other BCS Conferences

Okay, whatever, "Dude." You're the new doe-eyed babe in the woods.

I'm not being pessimistic based on some gut feel or whim. I'm simply evaluating the latest NEWS since our big party a week and half ago when we all felt we were headed to the Big East. I still have hope that we make a move to the Big East and can convince enough teams to take the plunge with us, but when WVU and L'ville are fighting to get out of an already depleted 6-team league, it ain't good little guy.

I completely understand what you're saying. I wouldn't be concerned about what other schools think of us going to the Big East. Keep in mind, 4 years ago we were a terrible football and basketball program. We're "too close" to SMU, so we have seen the magnanimous efforts put in place in the recent years to turn this around. Other officials in the Big East have seen this as well. Your regular fans out there and disinterested sports journalists aren't going to see that. Let the naysayers be naysayers. We here know better than that. We know what we are capable of and our on the right track to get there. In 4-5 years don't be surprised if SMU and Houston are leading the pack in the Big East (football) and if the new teams start to become more competitive in basketball. The Big East will hold together, it will retain AQ status, and the new acquisitions are going to be making major strides. The naysayers will not be naysayers in 4-5 years, just like Louisville and Cincinnati now feel entitled to disparage "lesser" programs. The Big East fans were not thrilled about adding those two schools years ago, now they feel right at home.

I agree with Stallion, and this is why AFA, Navy and apparently Boise are hesitant to jump. They are (probably like SMU) considering whether they should stand pat or go with this merger plan, which seems like a cluster to most people. The fact remains though, that with more teams clamoring to get out of the Big East, and no one standing up to support it and add more teams, the Big East is losing its grip. What happens if ND pulls out? Does the B1G take Rutgers and Uconn too? What happens if the Big 12 invites Lville, Cincy and WVU after Mizzou defects? The Big East is no longer, that's what happens. And, I bet if you ask, each of those schools would wish for that scenario immediately. And by the way, don't be foolish enough to think the BCS and ESPN wouldn't change the rules to cripple a C-USA in Big East clothing.

For the record, I am still holding out hope that the Big East moves quickly and decisively and can stabilize this thing before its too late.

Again, nothing has changed since day one. These were all possibilities, with a ton of others out there. Let's see the B12 2 months ago was seen as the least stable conference. What, they have an agreement now (essentially between OU and UT) to hold the thing together until one or both decides they want to move on. All the schools in the B12 probably would like to jump to the SEC/PAC 12/B10 as well if they had an opportunity. Money and stability is all that matters. Right now it's about perception and what makes news and BE realignment is making news. Again, nothing has changed since the initial invite/rumor. We jump ship and move forward. If the BE collapses and we don't get into an AQ when the wheels stop turning we join the Sunbelt because it won't matter. Any serious team that wants to have a chance to be in the upper echelon of college football would never look at the merger scenario. That is like standing in line to be executed without even being forced in the line.

The Big East is a ship with a leak. It will sink eventually. Doesn't mean we can't ride it, though, to our ultimate destination. You do this deal without another thought. I am tickled for the opportunity. Join the Big East. Keep winning and developing your program.

That's right! Continued improvement on our brand will payoff in big ways next go around (and hopefully we land in the SEC)!
