So will there be formal announcements tomorrow? Any ideas? I think it would be impressive if the Pres. of all four schools were together at a PC with the BE commish to make the announcement.
GO PONIES!!!

keep fingers crossed. problem for Boise State is they are a State run school, and $5MM is a lot of money these days when states are slashing budgets

Hopefully they make Pitt/Cuse/WVU pay $30 million each to get out ASAP. Then that dough could help out the new teams' buyouts.

Kustra: Big East’s proposed new western division attractiveBSU President Bob Kustra told the state Board of Education today that a new western division of the Big East conference for football could include Southern Methodist University, the University of Houston, Boise State, and Air Force, plus two more he's not “at liberty” to name, “but I will tell you I'm very pleased about the prospects of this western division, including not only the four I mentioned but two more that would be very solid citizens in a western division like this.”
Asked by the board if it would be a “deal breaker” if the Big East didn't establish a western division, Kustra responded, “Yes, without a doubt, that is a deal breaker.” The idea would be for the western schools to play the western schools, he said.

see the problem for Boise this year is that they may be a BCS team thereby inflating early exit penalty. BE could still have a Championship next year by letting Boise wait a year until West Virginia leaves. Without Kellem Moore less likely that Boise misses out on BCS payday. Also they wouldn't have to pay 5 Million exit fee if they give 1 year notice

Six western schools? I count:
Air Force Falcons
Boise State Broncos
Houston Cougars
SMU Mustangs
So, if BYU is #5, who is number six, if all are western schools? Presumbably it is Louisville if they are pushed to the West, while the East is set with CT, Rutgers, Cincinnati, Navy, USF and UCF.
I imagine the UoL Cardinals much prefer the East, which includes their recruiting base in Florida. Perhaps Navy will agree to the same Western division as AFA and SMU, who they have a history with? BTW, in any case, the West looks to be tough.

Still no official notice of a press conference tomorrow. Do we need to wait on AFA before we can do this thing officially?
