When SMU was 0-11 I bet you said the thing about being in the Big East.
If UCONN can make it I dont know why Pony couldnt.
If Tulsa would stop playing Sooner everyfreaking year we would have a good shot. Its not like Non AQ teams dont go every year. Who knows next year we get a reprieve from Sooner/Poke and get rewarded with @ Iowa State and @ Arkansas in November. Neato!!

SMU only has to win the BE to get to a BCS Bowl. Tulsa needs to probably go undefeated for 2+ years and win against some significantly ranked OOC teams each year just to get ranked high enough. Even if the depleted MWC and CUSA have a joint champion, you would still need to go undefeated multiple years to be ranked high enough. Getting destroyed this year by Boise, OU, and OSU will probably keep you out for a while even with perfect seasons. Sorry Tulsa but you will most likely always be stuck on the outside of the BCS conferences. SMU got lucky being in a great media market and strong booster commitment.
SMU could easily be in a BCS Bowl in less than 5 years.
Athletic department spokesman Max Corbet told the Associated Press before Saturday's game that the school hadn't received a formal invitation from the Big East and hadn't decided the future of its program. He said the school wouldn't be immediately prepared to accept an invite without considering what is best for all its sports.

No crazier than thinking SMU would be invited to an AQ conference 4 months ago.
Sorry, Tulsa has done fairly well for itself in its non-AQ little universe, but to 98% of the people in this country, the word "Tulsa" when it comes to collegiate football means nothing more than the word "Troy" or "Akron" or "Toledo." Being associated with and losing to Tulsa has done nothing to help SMU's status. Tulsa is one of those schools TCU was so anxious to get the hell away from.

Yeah, a couple of weeks ago.
I get your point, but Tulsa is, for better or worse, one of those teams that due to media market is going to be on the outside looking in when all things shake out.
