SMU's long-coveted indoor practice facility is in works, according to June Jones. That didn't help Mustangs prepare for Navy in rain today

Yes, they practiced, but the schedule was juggled. Instead of starting the day with meetings and film, the Mustangs hit the field first and then came inside for meetings. But yes, they practiced.

I don't think they can build until they have funded the soccer stadium... and also i heard they weren't starting until some of that dorm/tennis/band construction was done.

If you look at the master plan, there does not appear to be sufficient space for a regulation soccer field where the practice fields are now. I know they don't have the length to accommodate a full length football field there much less a soccer field.

I heard that the new soccer stadium was going to be on the other side of 75 central

I think this is the best option. Place the IPF where soccer is now, then devote space on the other side of 75 where old cinemas were to soccer field and possibly baseball. Not good for alot of reasons to squeeze soccer up front, plus if done right soccer over there would have more room and look better.

Put the IPF where the soccer field is?!? That's stupid. Where are they going to put the track?

Move all inter-mural activities to Burleson and Glencoe Parks. Place the IPF where the inter-mural field is now and update/expand Moody Garage to get ready for Basketball Moody Madness 2.0. Done.

Or, if we can't afford a marketing department, at least use the IPF as a de facto bulletin board and place it near I-75 and smack pictures of SMU, June Jones, SMU Football, Ticket offerings all over it. I really can't see why they don't put it in the back of the former-Mrs.Baird's lot. There some electrical station, or whatever going in there...it doesn't need to be huge, put it somewhere else. The also have land across I-75 next to the Dart line...that's an option.

SMU spent a lot of time and money re-routing Airline and creating a pedestrian thoroughfare between Moody and Ford. Personally, I think its a very pretty space with the soccor field/track alongside. Not sure whether it would be as nice with an IPF structure blocking out all the views.

I wouldnt say its really blocking anything. I mean West side is dorms and the east side is the gym. As long as its design well it will still look cool. Believe me it would be far better putting it in that spot rather than sticking next to the church and the beginning of the boulevard.

If they keep it consistent with the architecture at SMU (which you know they will), it could look awesome in that spot on Mockingbird at Bishop. It's not like the current practice field looks great with equipment scattered around.

Haha very true, its more the fact I wish it was a park or nice gathering point for any events whether game day or church related activities. If they put it there, Im sure they will still make it nice, but like someone said, it might be nice to use the size and put it along 75, so people know that there is something big there.

You mean intramural right? Intermural is between different schools...

People complain we don't have an ipf

They announce one and people complain where it will be

So, with an IPF - do we also get to have a visitor's locker room where it's supposed to be in the south end zone? Currently it's used to store equipment. I assume that equipment can go in the new IPF.

Kind of dumb we have to use the same tunnel for both teams.
