We understand the reasons, but if you all noticed the SMU defense ( bless their hearts) was plain flat out, worn out , out of gas at that point of the game and the chances of the SMU Defense stopping Navy before that 3:40 burned off the clock were not in the high percentages either, IMHO.

AND if you buy off on the premise that JJ had faith in his defense, then if SMU didn't get the ball on the on-side kick, why couldn't the SMU D stop them inside the 50 as well?.....a field goal by Navy at that point in the 4th would have been tough directly into the teeth of the wind.

Jones doesn't tolerate questioning of his judgment very well - especially from the media. He's the only coach in C-USA, besides O'Leary/UCF, who doesn't have a formal weekly press briefing. Just a couple minutes after practice. Can't be bothered, I guess. (O'Leary has a weekly radio show, with questions from a media host and fans. Nobody has to pay.)

if somebody doesn't blow the assignment, we stop them on 3rd down and 6 or whatever. Would have had a minute plus on the clock. Had our chance to stop them and almost did.
