Froggies, does TCU have a general public area? I didn't really pay attention but did see some vendor/advertising booths.
Re: Observations Of A New Fan
it's tough to win on the road. maybe our next home game will be a home game.

Re: Observations Of A New Fan
Wow, awesome guys !! Thanks for the responses. We would would love to grab something to eat before the game rather than inside Ford Stadium and my son and his friends would like it as well. Do we just go there and tell them we want something to eat and then pay or how does it work ? Sorry for the questions.
Also, we have no intentions of letting the "sky is falling" posts run us off or make a difference to us. I get frustrated as well and even my son noticed how Navy was more fired up for the game that the Mustangs. Something needs to change... Whether it does or does not, we plan to be there.
My son attended the SMU Soccer Camp this past summer and loved it and every time we are on campus he says that he is going to college right there on the Hilltop. Guess I will be getting a second or third job soon !! HAHA

Yes, walk up to the Mustang Club tent (corner of Binkley and Bishop). You can pay cash for food. The SMU Mustang Alumni tent is available as well (across the street). Mi Cocina or BBQ usually plus 2 drink tickets. You could also donate to the Mustang Club if you feel so inclined

Either way, you don't have to be an alum to buy food here.

I know lots of Ft. Worth people with no connection to the school (outside of living in the same city as the university), yet they're still going to Walmart, to little league games, what-have-you with purple TCU shirts. It's worked great for them, but I think it might be tougher to do in Dallas. However, the original poster's comments make me happy. I love hearing that people not associated with SMU are making an effort to support the team. So to him, I say, awesome and thank you. I also have to agree that it looks like our football team has lost some heart and will. I think something is up in the locker room, can't corroborate it really, but just my gut feeling. Going to TCU and winning, then throttling UCF, and losing a close one to USM shouldn't have shattered them so badly, but yet it did. I can't help but think to the future when our talented new recruits mature, unfortunately, we still have to play ball today :p

Re: Observations Of A New Fan
welcome aboard - really glad to have you follow the Mustangs. Hope you think of us as your team - graduate or not.
I know it can be awkward - but introduce yourself to almost any tailgate sponsor and they will take you in like you are family. Thats how we do it.
also - congrats on choosing the better of the two Metroplex private school options. It is definitely good to teach your kids not to settle for second best in life.
Also - our basketball should be vastly improved this year - and with Big east on the way that will be awesome - better grab season tickets there soon or good options will be gone. Have had several non-SMU alumni buying up tickets now that they know what is coming.

Winning will cure all these problems, Comet. Good post.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

True, but did you not learn anything in your American History course?
Allow me to summarize the idea of the American Revolution:

Getting people to buy tickets that didn't attend SMU is actually the step that you all need to get back to where you once were, nobody seriously thinks Alabama, Notre Dame or UT sell all those tickets to alumni only. You all seem to know that and are friendly enough to strangers.
Navy is a hard kill for anybody though. IMO one of the best coached squads in FBS football. Kind of surprised Niumatalolo hasn't been linked to a or recruited by a higher profile University to get things righted. I wonder if Penn State might look his way?
Royalty, LOL I thought in 1776 we told the world what we think of "Royalty".

I am not sure if it is there for every home game but a couple times this year they have had a big tent open to the public. Had a good restaurant (blanking on the name - maybe Boomer Jacks) there serving burgers, hot dogs, etc. as well as adult and family-friendly beverages. And they were doing some good business it appeared...plus it gave the kids a place to relax and cool off from Frog Alley. I think SMU should definitely do this since it really doesn't cost the school anything except a couple tents and some tables/chairs.

Re: Observations Of A New Fan
Welcome ! These potential fans are out there, and would really enjoy our future AQ program. Now if the Athletic Dept. could get some marketing money going and really work hard to get these potential fans to our games, I think we would all be surprised by the interest in SMU by area college football fans moving into the area.....If you want to fill the stadium you have to find college football fans to start with and what group is better to buy tickets than college football fans who have moved to the Dallas area and would like a new team to support ? Certainly, your best option is not alumni who went to SMU during the post DP days of high admission standards and one of the worst D1 programs in the country. I mean how many of those students who came here during that time even had interest in football ?

Welcome, indeed. This is the kind of support we need and should welcome suggestions as to how to make those who have no connection to SMU feel more welcome

I personally want to welcome your family and you to our campus and team, its always more precious when a person with no connections to the university and becomes such a loyal fan. I hope its a trend that continues and hopefully your kids might become future graduates here!

Welcome to the Hilltop! I know that the Boulevard can be confusing. If you see someone with a red and blue scarf slung around him/her, please do not hesitate to stop us and ask questions. We can help. We are the Red and Blue Army (look for us on Facebook). We would love for you and the kids to join our revolution in support of our Mustangs. Again, welcome and glad you are here.
It makes sense to me.
