I was looking at that the other day-there were something like 9 bowl games in 1970 and only about 18 by 1980. Now there are what 36?

The best thing about playing BYU in the AFB is we will finally break out the blue jerseys.

We will beat Rice, win our bowl game and set ourselves up for a run for the BCS next year when we put it all together!

I want whatever RunningStang is smoking.

With our schedule next season, inexperienced OL, and uncertainty at QB, I'll gladly take 7-5.

Not worried about QB-Klemm is trying to address the OLM issues with immediate help. Pray for him. Otherwise, we may well take a step back on OLM. But if issues are addressed with say 2 of the JUCOs we are presently recruiting on OLM I think we'll have our best team since DP as talent level is rising

So if you take 9 bowls until 1970, 18 until 1984, and 36 for 2009/2010, and weight the bowl appearances by the number of bowls to represent relative importance of the bowl, you have:

1925, 1936, 1948, 1949, 1963, 1966, 1968 each 1/9 of a bowl point,
1980, 1982, 1983, 1984 each with 1/18 of a bowl point,
and 2009, 2010 each with 1/36 of a bowl point

That means 2009 and 2010 only represent 5.26% of our bowl points. Sounds about right when you gauge relative importance of the bowls vs bowls in our history.

In 100 years of playing football at SMU, Couchem, we ought to have accumulated 1% of what you're calling bowl points per year. In two years, using your logic, June Jones accumulated 5%. So he's outperforming by 2.5 times.

BCS must be the sponsor of some new irrelevant December bowl game.

How can you not be worried about QB? Hopefully a healthy Padron will be better but he is the same QB who couldn't execute the offense against UCF, Army, and those first two picks against A&M were just dreadful. I think he's better than Simple JJ, but its not like he doesn't have warts.

Interesting comment about the QB. Care to expand on your thoughts there?

If Padron is at full strength, then I'm also not inclined to worry about the QB position. Agree that the O-line would be the primary concern. If Padron is not healthy, however, then I'm very worried about the QB since we'd be looking at 0 game experience there.
