How much interest did losing at home to Army generate?

Bowl games should be about playing someone different at someplace different. SMU hasn't played in the Cotton Bowl since it was renovated so a game against OSU or Illinois would be different.

If you are so afraid of losing, then decline a bid and stay at home.

if we play at the cotton bowl, i'm going to rent a bus and put a keg on it just like in college.

Cotton Bowl, no question. I am so tired of the Service Academies.

Won't play a service academy... BYU has already accepted.

Hmmm....this is a good idea. Tip 'o the hat to you.
Plus, they sell beer at the Cotton Bowl!

Ah, that's right. UCF should have beaten BYU, gave it away. Still prefer Cotton Bowl, beer is good and in/outs.

When is the last time SMU played in January?

New Years Day bowls (although Jan 2 this year) are better. More people will be off work on Mon. Jan 2 than at noon on Friday Dec. 30.

The extra practice will be good for the young guys, but there's no way this season doesn’t end on a sour note. Every option spells "L". We just need to focus on the future and how this time is part of the greater plan to have SMU competitive within the next year (or two).

I hope you're right... Visions of KP performance in 2009 Bowl.

AFB we could get a little payback on BYU for Holiday Bowl. Playing Ohio State would be great exposure for SMU, but at this time I fear being over exposed! sooo BYU it is.

Talk about wanting to be smalltime. That is very much like wanting to play in the Hawaii Bowl as conference champions. Take the best bowl game possible. To me that would be AFB.

Its about the players and the fans and having a fun game...NO One could give a crap about who wins most of these silly bowl games mustangxc. If you think we could beat a Big 10 team at this time then you are seriously delusional. They are all huge and deep in the Big 10 and we are missing a starting RB, Kicker and are having serious problems with the offense and QB..... Not a nah sayer, just realistic. We do NOT need to be embarrassed again this year is my point and New Orleans is fun and so why not NO? :-)

And last time I checked mustangxc, we are not division or Conference Champs and may be 6-6 limping into a Bowl Game...and SMU deserves to be 'bigtime' for that?

I'll try again, what about the Beef O'Brady's Bowl in Florida. It would be good weather for our offense.

Weather is the problem with the offense? Always raining in the redzone!

I wouldn't mind that Bowl game either, but doubt we would travel well to this game based upon how we are ending the season and is harder to get to then New Orleans. If you HAVE to, you can drive to NO for the game and do it on the cheap.
