You're 100% right, CMF. I agree -- the flirtation with the top 25 made the recent skid harder to stomach. But I had 7-5 at the beginning of the season, too. Didn't see the record unfolding this way, but it's still about what most of us expected.
The idea of declining a bowl game is idiotic. After two decades of not even sniffing bowl eligibility, we're so spoiled we're in a position to decline a bowl game? Hell no. Marquis Frazier said it best on the pre-game interview with Rich Phillips: getting to a bowl is expected at SMU now. It SHOULD be expected ... and we need to support the team. We need to go to the bowl game, whether it's the Armed Forces Bowl or New Orleans or anyplace else. If we want a legit athletic program, we need to support like a legit athletic program. I only was able to travel to two road games this year, but I already told my office that I'm taking off (maybe several days) for the bowl game, regardless of where and when.
