You're 100% right, CMF. I agree -- the flirtation with the top 25 made the recent skid harder to stomach. But I had 7-5 at the beginning of the season, too. Didn't see the record unfolding this way, but it's still about what most of us expected.
The idea of declining a bowl game is idiotic. After two decades of not even sniffing bowl eligibility, we're so spoiled we're in a position to decline a bowl game? Hell no. Marquis Frazier said it best on the pre-game interview with Rich Phillips: getting to a bowl is expected at SMU now. It SHOULD be expected ... and we need to support the team. We need to go to the bowl game, whether it's the Armed Forces Bowl or New Orleans or anyplace else. If we want a legit athletic program, we need to support like a legit athletic program. I only was able to travel to two road games this year, but I already told my office that I'm taking off (maybe several days) for the bowl game, regardless of where and when.
Beat Rice!

I can't believe all of you premadonnas are willing to accept second best. If we had an offense as good as the ones we have had the previous 2 years we woud be at least 8-4 this year if not better. Our offense this year sucks big time. Why are you guys making excuses for the team/coaching staff? We deserve better.

I guess you prefer 1-11.

I don't know what you're talking about GiddyUp. That is the exact opposite of what I said.

I haven't excused any coaches. I just said that those of you who think we should be winning ten games a year are delusional.

I think the person who posted this was making a joke and sharing his frustration with this offense. I mean doesnt matter how good our defense can possibly be, if you can score and especially often you are going to lose. I could finish the dvr of this game, and my girl wanted to go see the UT game. Even they suck on offense but theyre all fresh sophs so they will roll everyone in 2 years. Im hoping we are going along in the same trend... Also notice at their game (my first since I dont willingly go these games) I think our yelling Red... Blue... is very similar to Texas... Fight... they do yelling back. Only it sounds a helluva lout better since their attendance was 100,875 people.

You go to a bowl game and get the extra month of practice. Even a losing effort is worth that for next year's team. It's critical as a matter of fact.

Im hoping it is, I mean I hate the thought of getting embarassed, but I mean can it really be as bad as the OU vs UConn game.... doubtful. Im hoping for AFB, because I can make a drive for a QB that should have been booted a long time ago. Im really hoping the rumors I heard were true that Padron will be starting the Rice game....

Play the game so we can send Simple JJ off with the standing ovation he deserved.

Don't even need to read the thread to know that this post is ridiculous. 3 bowls in a row, take it.

Exactly. What was it, 6 years ago the we lost to rice and it kept us out of the new orleans bowl? Everyone was so broken hearted to not go bowling finally.
