Why don't the seniors get introduced before the game like at every other school?

Surprised no one has threw out a guess for actual bodies in the stadium.
Mine: 9,002
And yes, it was pathetic, but we all knew it would be.
Dunno how much control we have over scheduling, but we should always beg not to have a home game on Thanksgiving weekend.

Attendance sucked, but at its peak it wasn't anywhere near that bad. I think 14k is plausable based upon the number of people in the stadium during the 2nd quarter, but by the end it was no more than 5k.

Absolutely pathetic. Winning and a bigger marketing budget will help some, but honestly we just need SMU alums to start taking football seriously and start truly supporting the team with their presence (forget money for now) before we start expecting the greater community to do the same.

I had to go and buy a coat at halftime. Made sure they scanned all my tickets and stood for a good part of the game. I am superfan.

Stop scheduling games on Thanksgiving weekend. Stop scheduling games at 11am. Stop going 1-4 into senior day.

I was out early at 8am and rocking like always, but don't complain about attendance when you knew damn well no one would show up this week.

What was the Houston vs Rice score? Nice 27 point effort offense.

Might have been 4,442 after halftime--a lot of the home crowd didn't return.

Credit to those who did stay, thouygh--they were supportive and vocal.

Regardless of how you spin it, a half-empty stadium is still terrible. We really need to get into the Big East and start allocating the extra revenue into marketing, this is ridiculous. We need to market our own students and alums into supporting the team, Jesus Christ.

Terrible team, terrible opponent, terrible weather, early morning game, holiday weekend. June should be happy anyone showed up and stayed all the way through.

SMU still does not market its team city-wide as TCU has done. A billboard on Central is not going to reach people in Irving, Mesquite, or DeSoto.

With DART, there should literally be thousands of fans coming up and down the Red Line each game and Mockingbird Station remains strangely empty. I think there are a fair number of fans (SMU alumni or otherwise) who don't really think of DART as a good option and assume the parking is intolerable. If there was some way to promote that your ticket is good for DART admission to and from the game that might help.

I feel for you diehards on this board. Looked like maybe 500 people on the entire visiting side. I wouldn't expect a big crowd but I thought it would be a little better. My guess is 5k - really sucks for the players.

Then send off the seniors when most other teams do it......before the game when the crowd is the largest.
