MM- boy did you hit the nail on the head. IMO that attitude you describe is exactly why our economy is in the toilet and home repos are at an all-time high. Everybody wants it now. BTW- me too- when it comes to winning on the field. If you aren't moving up you are not making progress. However, sports are a little different than buying homes and living beyond your means.
