the row behind me in the club has students that aren't even old enough to drink. I don't get it.

And yes. We need to open the windows up there, so I can look out upon the poor masses . . . And spit on them.

We definitely need to open the windows, just not sure how much that would do since I doubt they could be fully wide open. SMU needs a visible critical mass on the westside and right now everybody from June Jones down knows its not good enough what we are doing. Rather than hoping for some magical marketing plan that gets people to buy season tickets, i am just lamenting how Ford is setup. The boxes are nice and all, but does SMU as a whole really need the extra coins from box revenue?? (forget the ficticous Athletic Dept bookkeeping, at a private school like SMU i view the athletic department as a key marketing/alumni relations arm of the school in and of itself).

no one would want to be on the east side. they couldn't schmooze with all the other box owners and they'd have to look into the sun. more realistic is to knock out 10 rows of seats and add another box level below the existing ones.

More boxes on other side, not another club...

Are you freaking kidding? fictitious Athletic Dept bookkeeping?
We are operating at a deficit and need every penny right now. why people think we have this limitless supply of money is beyond me.

agreed. I tried to pick up a suite this year, and there is a long wait list.

relative to what though? our endowment? losing recruits? losing our coach? Just sayin there is an indirect cost-benefit going on with the boxes. I wish SMU had a fanbase that made the people in the boxes irrelevant to the atmosphere, I'd like buy one myself at some point, but doubt i will pursue any time soon because i firmly believe we need able bodied fans in the stands supporting the team or at some point there won't be a team that is very worthy of support. We already have strong clues that the UCF lack of crowd had a direct impact on the outcome of the season, all indications are that the team was very dissappointed with that coming off of big TCU win.
I just think that if 80% of the people in the boxes were in the stands, it would help create a critical mass and social synergy that would bring more people and actually have a nice impact on the game atmosphere.

So how are you personally going to help remedy this? I readily admit I have the let someone else do it attitude. None of us can afford that mentality any longer.
