Boise wins with 3 star recruits. Texas is awful with 5 star recruits. TCU always won with 3 and the occasional 4 star.

Coaching and schemes wins not high school players who have never played a down of D1 ball

In short the Run and Shoot doesnt have much of a chance but we all know that.

Boise gets transfers that we can't. Also, Alabama wins with 5 star recruits.
Name 4 others school like TCU, if not that means they are the exception to the rule.
You need talent, as Tulsa saw against their OOC opponents.

What is it with these dichotomies we love to create here? It's either all on coaching or all on recruited talent? The answer always lies in between both. And at this juncture, I think our incoming talent might be a bit better than our couching.

so June is a 7 to 8 game winner at a mid-major and you guys think that UCLA and AzSt are going to swoop in and grab him? you've lost your minds. hell, people here don't want him (not me, i like JJ)

Because of our past 7 or 8 wins at SMU is viewed as 9 or 10 wins anywhere else. I am just saying that is the perception.

At this juncture, losing JJ and Klemm would be a huge blow to the momentum we have sustained, not to mention the disastrous effects it would have on recruiting.

We are hosting some big time recruits this weekend...I believe we have at least three 4* recruits visiting. Printz loves SMU, but would he still come without JJ or Klemm? Imagine many guys would follow JJ and Klemm to ASU or UCLA.

I've seen our recent drop off in play just like everyone else, but we are bowling for 3rd consecutive year without a huge amount of big time players or a legit qb to run the RnS.

It was always a 5-7 year plan. After 4 years with JJ we are playing in our 3rd bowl and heading to the Big East, we are consistently getting high 3* commits and 4* guys on campus for visits, and we are making progress. Not sure what some of you guys expect.

Coaching is a transient industry. I have no idea why people get so amped up about one guy over another. It looks like Klemm did a great job recruiting CALIFORNIA NOT TEXAS. If you're recruiting is really tied to one coach doesn't that tell you something about the current administration anyway?

Agree Mitch - Coaches will always move on to bigger and better positions. The best college coaches will usually go to the NFL. Good coaches from non-AQ will usually move to AQ positions. So whether it be next year or 5 years from now, we should have a plan in place so that if JJ bolts we are not left completely high and dry. No question.

And I agree that having our entire recruiting base come from one coach (mostly) and one state (mostly) is a recipe for disaster if that coach decides to leave. Have we built relationships with Texas HS coaches that will sustain? I don't think we have, and that is troubling.

I am simply stating the implications if JJ/Klemm leave this year. It would set us back a few classes, IMHO. I hope JJ leaves after a BCS run or when we are at least competitive in the new Big East.
