well I considered that although that's not what June said. But read Surfer Dudes comments-the CUSA Championship will decide whether we go to Hawaii. He didn't say anything about the Hawaii/BYU game.

Of course it does. If Houston wins and goes BCS CUSA has to vacate 3 bowls, of So. Miss wins they only have to vacate 2.

No we only vacate 1 Bowl if Houston loses-2 if Houston wins. (Unless you are counting the Military Bowl which Navy vacated and we are secondary pick)

I am, as the secondary agreement is binding if enough teams were eligible.

but that doesn't affect the prior statements that SMU goes to Hawaii Bowl only if HAWAII beats BYU. We had been told to wait to see if Hawaii got to 7-6. That game apparently is irrelevant now according to June and Surfer Dude. The Houston/USM game is determinative.

Correct. The reason being, I believe, that given the choice between NOLA and Hawaii, CUSA sees greater benefit in the exposure of the Hawaii Bowl. No one will watch a bowl game on December 17th against ULL. Christmas eve might be a little better. Also, im sure SMU is pushing for Hawaii, its what the players and coaches prefer in this scenario. Judging by Houston's furious comeback though, this is all moot.

Screw both UH's. Pulling for both to lose. Money -- don't care. 95-21 pisses me off. "Going home to Hawaii" and all the other Hawaii shipt pisses me off. Go Miss St and Mormons. UH (both of them) deserve each other. Jones and "surfer dude" can buy a ticket and watch the Hawaii Bowl. These idiots need to go back.

You could rationalize the trip, with all of the money you saved by not making any other road games. Ft Worth doesn't count as a "road trip".

Slow down. I want SMU in a bowl I can afford to go to, too, but I darn sure don't want to lose these coaches. I still remember the previous 25 years all too clearly.

If coog high wins, they get a BCS bid. Next in line for Hawaii would be Tulsa, they don't want to go since they made the trip last year. June and his Ponies would fill the spot, and Tulsa would go to the AFB, and S. Miss to TCB.

Why so upset about this?!? If I were the coach, that's where I'd want to go every year (or a BCS bowl which won't happen this year obviously). In fact, I'm personally hoping for the same outcome as well. Why can't someone call somewhere else home? I haven't lived in Memphis since I was 18 but it's "home" ... get a life and stop being so naive ... cheers ... go 'Stangs!

You guys need to get over this. If someone told you "hey, you can have a working vacation in:
a) dallas
b) dallas
c) St. Petersburg
d) Hawaii (and you either grew up there or lived there for years
where would you choose? Unless Hawaii wins and Houston loses we aint going to that bowl. Its the best deal for the team and the worst deal for the fans but the team should come first in our minds.
FYI im hoping like hell for TCB cause I will fly in for it, but if it all works out and they got to Hawaii I have no problem with it.
Bowl game is not a working vacation in that sense as they are not all the same from the work perspective. Otherwise teams would skip BCS bowls to head to hawaii.
They should be hoping to go to whatever bowl helps the program most, not which is a 'trip home'

Because the staff continually makes the few fans that have stuck with this program through the bad years feel like we aren't worth [deleted]

Unless its a major bowl it is a working vacation. We have no shot at a major bowl. Also, Hawaii is arguably best for the program. It's no worse than TCB or AFB.

Very debateable which is best. If Reinebold said he wants Hawaii because it's best for the program nobody would be mad
