I will look into this. I try to stay at non-chain hotels when I travel or at least smallers chains (zaza) but the quality of the hotel is the most important thing. And the proximity to fun stuff. And a good bar.

Am I mistaken in my understanding, but is this hotel a little bit away from the game site? I'm trying minimize the distance from hotel to the game since I don't plan on driving. Eyeballing it, maybe 10-15 minutes from the game?

I stayed at a Hyatt Summerfield suites and they had a free nightly HH and buffet. It was great. I think most people just got their dinner in there as well. Great amenity.

I meant no disprespect. I am not familiar with the area. I simply want to be close to the field and bars. Even if downtown is not full of rivers of chocolate and children with gumdrop smiles, I suspect I will tolerate it. I've been to worse.

Renaissance Hotel at Ross Bridge Golf Course, part of Robert Trent Jones golf trail. Very nice hotel and golf. Downtown B'ham is not great. Stay up in Hoover or one of the suburbs.

I dont want to stay "around the field" anymore than I wanted to stay around the field of the University of Houston when I went there. Besides, the official hotel is downtown, no?
Again, I think I can be safe with the good people of downtown birmingham. I will make friends quickly. It's all about communication.
