If you are calling this team and its mentality a "winner", clearly you have never seen one. I'm not saying it's a "loser" either but winners don't spend too much time looking up in the stands.

Exactly, or whine about which bowl they want to go to. Like seriously if we played a bowl in Dallas you better freaking pony up and play the best damn football game. Cant really call them "winners" when they go around walking like zombies... do they even have the expectation to go to the next level or do they assume this is it, and they want the best fan attendance in order to play well.

Remember Surfer Dude warning that "We were goin' to kick the [deleted] out of UT in recruiting in the State of Texas" People got upset because I had pointed out that he ought to get his [deleted] back to Texas then because he literally had just done a month long recruiting tour of Louisiana

BTW, the Area 51 meetings have been switched to the White Sands AFB on Tuesdays at 8 p.m.
I can guess what you were espousing

while in attendance....
I suggested CHEERING for the team and coaches..
I'll be renewing my season tickets for SMU for 2012 regardless of who the coach will be because I'm a fan of SMU.
Where will you be?

Do not agree with most of Mitch's comments and hate the Big 10, but I know Mitch and he is a good guy. He is also an avid Mustang fan who attends most of the football and basketball games. Everyone on this board is opinionated some just more than others Does not make anyone less a Mustang fan or mean you cannot enjoy a beer with them before a game.

I think both we and Kate are blowing June's complaints about attendance way out of proportion.
He just made one off-the-cuff statement that he was disappointed more people weren't there to send off the seniors. He was simply stating the obvious.
And did you ever stop to think his real beef might be with C-USA for scheduling a home game on Thanksgiving week? Against an opponent with a fan base even smaller than ours? It was all to fulfill the contract with Fox Southwest and there really isn't a good choice for that slot among C-USA teams in their coverage area.
June may have been a little miffed at our fans for not showing up in bigger numbers, but he could have made complaints about attendance after any of our home games this season. Whether he realizes it or not, June's real complaint is with the fans we don't have - the ones we have yet to cultivate through increased funding and staffing for marketing and PR. He probably feels he has done his part by putting a winning team on the field the last three seasons. And he's right.
Sure, because of SMU's situation we would love for our coach to be more of a salesman, but that's not a requirement to be a successful coach. Instead of railing on June for being upset about our attendance, we should be wondering why Steve Orsini isn't MORE upset - upset enough to take action.
