Its a very good job...there will be lots of people that want it...trust those guys to make right decisions if it happens...

Part of the reason JJ wants to leave is because he knows next year will be a downtick, so whether JJ stays or goes, whoever is here will need to be committed through next year...

If we lose Klemm, it could be 2-3 years before we get rolling again...

And then we'll go from there.

Who is that? This is still a stepping stone program for a coach, not a destination job.

We'll let the search committee figure that out. But the current occupant didn't do any of that.

I absolutely recognize that this is not a destination position. However, any coach that comes here has to play the part for the time he is here and sell the program.

Hearsay. Nick intimated it was all over the rivals.com board.

The C o C was just upset at him (the timing of all this) not that they did not want him. But they are not happy at the situation but are trying to work things out. But ASU just might be where JJ wants to be now.

Can anyone say

pri·ma don·na/ˌprimə ˈdänə/

Noun:

1. The chief female singer in an opera or opera company.
2. A very temperamental person with an inflated view of their own talent or importance.

There was a CoC saying he didn't like extortionist employees and frankly who does. But I'm sure every one of those guys has played hardball and used leverage at some point and been able to work with the same peeps in the future.

To say too much damage has been done kind of overinflates our sense of importance. 16k of the usual 18-20k that go to games have no idea what's going on here. Maybe 400 people participate in the boards. As long as they can work something out at the school and with the guys paying him it's fine. JJ isn't a total idiot...if he can't even get he ASU job he should see it's inhis best interest to kick [deleted] here.

Dude, I cannot go back through your 1,800 posts over the last 24 hours but I promise you that one or more related to what was being said on that other board was appended with "and they don't want him anymore."

Don't talk about me like I'm not here.

I beg to differ. Any job can be a destination job if that is what you make it. Look at Gary Patterson, he transformed TCU from stepping stone to destination job thanks to the fact that he has treated it as a destination job along the way. Both GP and TCU have grown substantially from the day he took the job. Additionally, his pay has increased commensurate to his results. I know SMU (Circle of Champions) has the money to pay a coach enough money to where that is not a sticking point so this can be/become a destination job if we land the right person. In my eyes we would need to land a native Texan to do so.

Franchione got the ball rolling at TCU and Patterson kept it going, and for Patterson, it now appears to be the job he wants. I agree with that. That is not the SMU job, not yet anyway. I did not say it could not become a destination job, but it ain't one yet, and frankly it would take several Christmas miracles to make it one. What's your plan to put butts in seats, for example?

Well Texas is one of the more obese states in the country so we can hope for 16,000 people that take up 2 seats and Ford would be full!

How about finding a coach who can take us to a BCS bowl as #1 priority....

Exactly! Guy makes $2 mil a year you'd think he could buy a ticket to Hawaii on his dime instead of pointing the team in that direction for bowl games every season.... Please leave ASAP.

I agree with jtsang in that we are not a destination job at this point. I do believe we can find a decent coach for what we are paying.

And we will need one to keep any momentum we can, if we can. According to popular belief, we are on the verge of moving to a new conference (which I will not embrace until official word is given, and then maybe not after that), where we would have been a candidate to win three games if the coaching staff had stayed intact.
