Agreed and he played in a much tougher conference, that experience will be more beneficial.
"AK is a great, not good, recruiter...AK has some Hawai'i and Texas ties...AK is a positive. Broussard and JJ know each other."
"The other positive, and this is grasping at straws, is people in LA didn't want Pete Carroll at USC. Pete made that program what is is, a national program, a jewel. Carroll failed with Pats and Jets, so I suppose it's possible JJ could be that guy here. That's possible, but is it likely? But JJ isn't sexy. He's an old, retread guy like Erickson. Hasn't done anything big in a while."
They say current ASU asst coach played under Jones and is a really good recruiter. Talking about how he and Adrian Klemm would be recruiting monsters for ASU.
"We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown
"If he can keep the best Arizona players in the state then more power to him, but if you are a 18 year old kid and getting visits from Rich Rod, Kefflin, and Jones, which one are you more excited to play for?"
"SMU is was terrible program, they sucked, JJ did get them to 3 bowl" Wow SMU has been mention (negatively, yes) more times on this radio show than any media outlet in Dallas.
Armen is being interviewed...said the hang up is the 2 million buy out in JJ's contract and Leigh Steinberg is trying to negotiate a lower amount or no payout. ASU doesn't want to pay that much money for the buy out. Also says that the meeting that took place today went from 10 - 12:15 or so with JJ telling staff that the ASU job is all but a done deal.
ASU should of realized that JJ is a hot asset. He comes with a 2 mil price tag, heck if I were SMU I would have asked for a premium on it for finding another coach.
Also saying that SMU fans are disappointed in JJ not recruiting Texas so ASU fans shouldn't expect JJ to recruit in Arizona.
JJ recruits to where his connections are. AK, if leaves, will be a big loss. This is best recruiting class SMU's had since the death penalty. One of our coaches was on way to California to talk to 4 star recruit when JJ called and said come back to Dallas for the meeting.
