To the title of this thread, answer is no. However, did we REALLY want June chatting up ASU with recruits on campus ? Did we REALLY want SMU picking up the tab for recruits to come and hear a pitch for ASU ? Did we REALLY (or did SO REALLY) want the culmination of the bcs work to be overshadowed by Junegate?

The fact that they pulled the offer isn't our problem. Try resigning to your boss, go someplace else, having your offer rescinded, would you be allowed to come back? Doubtful.

He never resigned from my understanding.

I want a new coach, and am not afraid of any search. Some of you have little pride and are as soft as charmin. Use Jones for this class, get them signed, and start moving towards having a new coach in '13, after the buyout goes away. I'm not nor will I ever be a battered spouse. This is about program, so you do what's right for it. That means retain the class, then slash & burn Jones as soon as the opportunity arises.

Oh yeah, he's not capable of taking us to the next level. Its not like Hawaii was worth a crap, or any team he's ever coached. The man is all swag, limited results. Stop acting like he can actually deliver on the big time w/the run'n'shoot

That is exactly what I said in the original post...

Lets finish this last year in C-USA as champions while starting a serious search for a new dynamic well respected name recognizable head coach with a highly regarded staff.

Start the search NOW!

If there is the belief that 2012 is really it for Jones then the process will unfold with decision makers doing their work

I'm sure SO (and the Honey Badger) will never be surprised again.

patience and maturity is required at this point. Doesn't mean anyone is soft if it takes awhile due to contractual issues.

Enjoy the bowl game, hope for the best on recruiting day and let the rest unfold over the next 6 months. Rest assured the astute business men who sit on our board of trustees have all had whiny entitled employees who are constantly looking for a new job or threatening to jump to a new job. They know what has to happen if someone was supposedly already working for the next guy before they got the offer. The first thing you do is make sure you have the facts right. If so, they will know what to do.

They know how to handle this - patience.

Thats all I will say. Time to celebrate a strong season with some fun in Birmingham!

If your boss really needs you he will take you back. Let's not get get overly moral all of a sudden. This is football we are talking about and it is a business in a capitalistic society. We will use him as long as we need him much like he is doing. At this point in the rebuilding we still need June Jones to get us in a position where any good x's and o's coach can come in and win with the talent we have. While we are pointed in the right direction with the last two classes in addition to the current one, which looks fantastic so far, we are not there yet. We have to lock down this class and at least one more if not two to feel comfortable that this upward trend will be sustained without a string of losing seasons. I am confident that June has proven that the model is in place for any solid coach to come in and win and for that I am grateful to SMU, the Circle of Champions, and June Jones. What I am not confident of is that we can handle a smooth transition this year from June Jones to the next coaching staff so let's be practical here and make it a win-win for SMU and JJ.
