Parking is less than $25? Really? Wow.
Color me surprised.

Re: Here's an idea for attendance problems
Would it make more sense to focus more on increasing season ticket holders at this point? If you more alumni to come back for one to three games, you might as well try to sell them on season tickets. Have not seen or heard of any big push to get, especially new area alumni to buy season tickets. There was another thread about UTSA's ticket tactics, and they did a good job of enticing people to lock in for three years and different ways to finance buying tickets.
What are the current benefits of being a season ticket holder, and what pushes people to get season tickets over just buying game tickets when they feel like it, for non SMU diehards?

At SMU, parking is free if you park at Mockingbird station or take the dart light rail to get to Mockingbird station.

I buy season tickets because I like sitting right behind the bench with a great view of the field. I hope attendance increases, but I want to keep the good seats if it does. If you're going to make a small donation to SMU athletics, this is a good way to do it.

Re: Here's an idea for attendance problems
I guess it would be good to get as many alum as you can there, parking costs a lot? I just looked at ticket prices.25 bucks to park your car isn't getting Joe Shmoe to an SMU game. You guys don't want Joe Shmoe but if he buys Mustangs junk and what not... Well I'm only a bandwagon Michigan fan my dumb, well technically inclined self wasn't going to Michigan. I cheer for them because you declare nearly at birth, Green or Blue. The review of your stadium by an outsider was VERY positive, so it can't be THAT BAD. But you know what Pitt had problems selling Tickets when they had Dan Marino. I think you have a much bigger problem with Joe Schmoe attendance than you can combat, called the Dallas Cowboys. But if it was cheap, maybe you could because really there's nothing like GOING to a football game. Although my surround sound makes you hear the crack of the pads it isn't natural. But I guess I can go to a High school game too for even cheaper.
Solution, win a lot and send a STAR to the NFL to be a STAR. You have a great running back, hopefully he recovers well and the O-line will be good enough for him to get some national exposure. No, he isn't a Heisman candidate just a tough runner that can pick up the blitz and pick a hole to run through. That's a good start.

I still don't understand why we don't give away tickets. Who cares if they count towards the official attendance? If we give away 1000 end zone tickets per game to local high school/middle school students and their families, it's still a positive. Some of them will have a great time and come back again with a paid ticket. Plus we do make money off of concessions and souvenirs they buy. Plus the team sees and hears 1000 more people in the stands. Why are we hung up on the fact that the NCAA won't count them? They don't count the empty seats either.

Michigan counts the people working the game, the guys selling hot dogs, all the players, the TV crew...... ETC there is NO WAY they could EVER get 114,000 fans in that Stadium as big as it is, they count everybody there. 109,601 is the listed capacity but I personally don't believe it. They even admit they count everybody there. SMU might consider doing the same?

We count people driving on the highway adjacent to the stadium

I know, I was just showing how easy it is to park for free at SMU compared to a big time program, so when people look at smu ticket cost, that is all they really have to pay, no $50 parking added on. Should really be a selling point
