Often more than they get in government funding for the year.

Is Mike Stoops still available?

what are you basing your stance that Gill is a great recruiter on?

NO GILL!

And I am a big fan. Was at the 1983 (84) Orange Bowl where he threw the missed 2pt conversion.

What are we going to tell recruits? Look at all these hot girls we have on campus, but you can't speak to them after 10pm? Not going to work.

He has also in his career kept a kid on the bench who tested out better in practice over and over than the starter (who was the same recruiting class), to the point that the kid tried to quit. That kid went on to win the Heisman.

finally. why doesn't anyone get that gill is a sham. everyone's hollering about how he's a great recruiter, but no one ever gives any evidence of such.

He did do a good job recruiting at Buffalo--getting 3rd tier northeastern kids to sign up for a dead program and play hard for him in the MAC. I will give him that. But that isn't the ballgame we are trying to play here. We are trying to build a program in a BCS conference and win at the highest level.

And again, I'm a big fan. I want nothing but the best for Turner. He even tried to get my brother-in-law to join that staff in Buffalo with him. I hope he gets another job somewhere, but I don't want him to be the head coach of SMU.

he wasn't ready for KU. too big time. he would have been better served to stay at Buffalo for about 5 more years.

KU is a terrible job too. He shouldn't have taken it. Mangino lucked out with a qb recruit and a fortuitous schedule. Which has actually made the job worse because the fans expect that replicated. Haven't ever seen any evidence they can out recruit Nebraska or Missouri in their own backyard, and outside of KC, the recruiting ground is more desolate than Nebraska. And Nebraska has owned KC for decades. Missouri just started getting better kids out of there since Pinkel showed up.
