He said he was contacted by two schools that he declined to identify, and received an offer ... which he turned down.

"I wasn't interested in going any place else," Mason said. "SMU is my home, my daughter goes to school here, and my wife and I love Dallas and SMU. I'll be here as long as June Jones and SMU want me here."

Thanks, Pride.
Woulda been nice to have heard that from Jones when ASU came calling. He's still got lots to do here to fulfill expectations. Still surprised he was ready to walk.

But not the ones who throw coaches and players and the school in general under the bus with the truth, right?

Tom is a GREAT coach and an even better PERSON. He is very personable and quite humorous and possesses an incredible work ethic. On the ASU D Day (which just happened to be Dec. 7) right after that infamous meeting with the coaches Tom immediately left to recruit in Garland.
I hope everyone gets to meet and know him. I too like how our defense plays and am so glad he's NOT going to Colo St...We need him here!

Thanks PonyPride. It is reassuring to know that we have a serious reporter that will assuage our unsubstantiated fears with facts.

That is the first settling news i have heard about SMU's coaching staff in awhile. Actually it has only been about a week to 10 days.... It seems like the JJ debacle has been going on sooo much longer.

We're fortunate to have Tom Mason. Outstanding coordinator with an outstanding staff. If the top job ever comes open, I would like to think his is the first name on the short list. PONY UP!
