No, I seriouly doubt if he would argue with Mack b. - gran whore of the whorens. You must understand- stallion is an orange blood that just masquerades as an SMU fan. What can you say about a person that could only get a law degree from TT high school.

GO PONIES!!!

I love the point when hate overtakes logic-then I know I won the argument

There are those that would say you generally always have a head start in that regard

There is no hate- we just feel for you as most think you are a pathetic and lost person. Just because someone in your family worked for SMU does not generate any degree of loyalty.

GO PONIES!!!

Big 12 v. Big East

I won't argue that point, at least not in FB. BB is a different matter, though.

For me, I am so grateful for BE membership. Not the end-all, certainly beats THIS test question:

Big 12 v. C-USA

one thing I will say for BE membership is media exposure. If SMU was ever to become the beast of the east, it would be huge. East coast Mustangs can tell you about the eastern bias...and it's still where the largest population is. As you move westward to later time zones, things get lost in "late night" news over here. Think there's a reason the Dallas Cowboys play in the NFL east?

Good post Cox. Some of it may be wishful thinking but I like it.

Hopefully he doesn't get matched up with Carter Wall for his official.

I don't want to sound panicky or debbie downer so I don't want to pick things apart. But, for example, sharing in the east media bias may be a bit much. I'm not sure we are going to be embraced in that. In fact, I think most of the east coast media has been pretty down on us so far.

Good post, CMT.
I agree that SMU will enjoy a better strategic fit with the Big East than the Big 12. Our student body is 50%+ from out of state. SMU needs to continue developing as a national brand - like Vandy- to grow the pool of applications that are high quality and can afford a private college education.

I hope the Big East affiliation lasts a long time. Chance to win, exposure to big market to enhance student recruitment, and play quality teams.

"the average 18-year old doesn't necessarily comprehend or care about the long-term implications of this move."

Yep your long thread answered the wrong question. The question was what Seaver Myers would find persuasive if he were choosing between SMU and TCU. You are answering the question-Why should SMU join the Big East. Two entirely different question-one from a recruits perspective and the other from SMU's perspective. Seaver Myers decision will be replayed hundreds of times over each year between SMU and various Big 12 schools and SMU will be at a competitive disadvantage to compete from a national perspective Further, the Big East will do absolutely nothing to solve attendance problems in Football especially now that Air Force and BYU are out.

Aside from the uncertainty of the TV $, which part do you think is wishful thinking?

way off base to think the Big East schools will help fill seats at Ford. Not even close to what the Big XII would do for Ford. Just look at our past games with Tech, Baylor, Okie State and oh yes, now TCU is in that group.

we might be pleasantly surprised by how many yankees wander over to Moody when their team rolls into town, but still won't match what it would be with Big XII schools
