He only does that when Baylor Bears come near him.

They seem to be keeping a tighter grip on the perunii in recent years - slower running, less dragging handlers down, less hind legs, etc. Must be insurance and general wussification of society.

The short answer is "Peruna does what Peruna wants."

Peruna VIII used to, but he is too old nowadays. Peruna IX...haha yeah right. Good luck getting that one to do anything you want. The handlers are working on it though.

Peruna IX is supposedly young and feisty. Maybe we'll see more aggression out of him.

This should be a project for Thad when he has some down time. Make a short video about Peruna--most dangerous mascot in history. Could be a good segment for GameDay sometime. They always do that random human interest story around 10:00. Don't know why there couldn't be one about a mascot. Would be entertaining at least.

It would be good marketing. Would educate outsiders who don't understand why we have a shetland pony. And afterward, some of the video could be chopped up and run as commercials around Dallas. Use Peruna as part of the marketing plan. That might be more eye-catching to people around town than a random football ad.

Too bad there is not film of some of Peruna's greatest "hits". His BEVO kick, his TCU dump, his Rice Band run through, his Fordham kill, his Baylor Bear chase, his cheerleader butt bite, his Misty moment, his handler drag, his NY cab ride, and of course Peruna XI's goat kill. I doubt that even Ralphie has a resume like that.

And, wasn't it because of our band, and Peruna, that Bob Hope adopted SMU as his school?

Maybe we could also explain to people that a "mustang" is an untrained horse? Making Peruna a mustang and the geldings not a mustang... But I seem to be the only one who understands that.

No, probably the only person who loses sleep over it years later. Wait, there are plenty of people on this board who wake up screaming at night, drenched in a cold sweat about our various equine personalities.
