The problem with any race for any elected office is organization. Name recognition only gets you so far. Add to that fact that there are some negatives for Craig, namely the Leach thing and the DP thing, and well you have some issues. The only way you overcome the lack of organization is by going everywhere and build the organization from your visits. The problem is that Texas is a huge state and going everywhere is difficult. TV buys you ad time, but doesn't really get anyone to the polls especially in a primary. James is going to have to go to every Church picnic he can find, every Jaycee meeting, every Chamber of Commerce meeting. He's going to have to wear his smile and shaking hand out over the next year. We'll see if he has the stomach for a chamber breakfast in Corpus Christi and chamber luncheon in San Antonio, followed by a prayer meeting in McAllen with a few mall visits in between.
