This is awesome. It makes the decommittments hurt a little bit less.

Awesome, congrats to Gherig and Prescott.
Dieter Named Parade All-American
Great news
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally
Re: Dieter Named Parade All-American
This is Dieter's fourth All-American team this year. He was also named to the Sports Illustrated team, the ESPN team and the Max Preps All American team. That is some big time stuff.

So great!! Can't wait till he gets on the field. I don't think we have had one like this in a long, long time. Dave Richards?

Thanks for the info for us non recruiting folks. Dieter is an exciting commitment.

Thanks for the update Sheridan. I'm curious, in your opinion, what kept Dieter from getting more big school offers? Don't get me wrong, I'm SUPER excited he's coming to SMU, but I'm left wondering how an All American is deciding between SMU and Kansas.

Good question, there were some big names very deep in the mix. Cal, Oregon, Auburn and Wisconsin. Wisconsin was very interested and decided to wait for some reason. The fact that Dieter worked a lot with Reggie Brooks to get his speed down to 4.4 was never brought up. It was under the radar that he cut that much time off his speed. If you look at any film of him, you never see him get caught from behind. You will also see Dieter running stride for stride with his running back David Perkins who has 4.4 speed and is highly recruited. His speed is deceptive because of the ease of his strides.

Agree. His easy strides make him look like he's running slower than he actually is but he never gets caught from behind. The last guy I saw do the same type of thing is Vince Young. Shows tremendous athletic potential.
Re: Dieter Named Parade All-American
I think Dieter probably clocked a slow speed before he started working with the speed coach and that bmay have scared some schools off. Just may have never went to a camp after working with the speed coach. Glad to have him.

Gehrig Dieter will be receiving his Parade All-American award tonight at halftime of the Washington HS basketball game. On a side note, Dieter and womans basketball player Skylar Diggins are the only two Parade All-Americans out of South Bend. They both went to Washington HS and both wear #4.

I would like to make one more point on the recruiting of Dieter. Dieter and Auburn commit Zeke Pike teamed up at many of the National 7 on 7 camps, each of them excelling. A West Coast trip to USC was canceled. It is my belief that had this trip gone through, many offers from the West Coast would have followed. Both Dieter and Pike were on a great roll week after week.
