SMUer wrote:I thought that was a really neat idea/generous effort. Was that a SMU thing or a Mustang Club thing? I would be very interested in talking with whoever started that idea because a coalition of this combined with groups like young MC and RBA could really start building a young/active fan base. PM me if you were involved.

Probably just takes a call into the Mustang Club (Amy) to find out.

Most successful thing the SMU Young Alumni do all year is the halftime reception during one home game (usually late in the season). People who I've never seen at games are in Heritage Hall downing beer and wine.
Booze = recent grads (speaking as one).
Not that hard and easy to do.
Plus, as we all saw in Bham, boozy fans = louder fans.

These are the people who will go to SMU games anyway and turn into the typical SMU golf clapping blue hair. If you want a fun game environment, we need the people I used to do blow with in Boaz.

RBA, you guys are an extraordinary group, and its always fun to see you guys on TV. I wish more than anything they had your scarfs in the bookstore. The funny thing is that RBA could get anyone (girls) who likes football and Harry Potter into SMU spirit.

Also, the fan attendance at this particular bowl game looked outstanding on TV. I get that its not the biggest stadium in the world and we certainly didnt fill it, but for such a small school and alumni base (comparatively) we looked great. They never showed the Pitt side which was funny.
