i have always been a KP fan. will be no matter what he decides.

at his best, he's one of the best we've seen in a long time.

if he stays, will be great to see him out there. if he leaves, best of luck wherever he decides to go.

I hate to call him a quitter, but he sure looks like one in this case. Why would he transfer? He is most likely our starter next year with a solid offense to support him.

He has been the best QB I've seen at SMU since I started following the team. I'm grateful for what he has done for the program, but this is bizarre to say the least.

It is TRUE he is transferring. I really like Kyle and the Padron's. I wish Kyle the best!

Smart move by Padron, he'll really benefit from dropping down to a lower level. We're screwed at QB if Gilbert decides to enroll elsewhere, QB depth issues persist heading into season 5.

Best of luck to Kyle.

The question now is what does this do to team morale?

We probably need to just forfeit next season.

I hate to hear this. I liked KP and was hoping this would be a great year for him. A competitor wants to play and he probably doesn't see that happening. Best of luck to him.

When the going gets tough- the tough get going unless your initials are KP. Then you turn tail and run.
Quitter- let down his teammates and the university. How can anybody wish him well.

GO PONIES!!!

Perhaps he is perplexed as to why JJ benched him all year. Perhaps he and JJ don't get along. My guess is that he does not think he would have a shot to play at SMU next year. Can't blame the guy for moving on. This happens all the time. Not sure what JJ has against padron..

Reed is right. Padron knows if Gilbert is here Gilbert would probably get the start. He only has 2 years of eligibility left so he needs to go where he can get a better shot a play, Bo Levi Mitchell did the same thing and he did very well. Again, Like Reed said it happens all the time.

But mostly to us. When was the last time we had a 3-year starter? How many programs have sat 2 noe 3 record breaking juniors in favor for a freshman (we'll see about GG) in a row? Willis, Levi, This isn't just a "he's a quitter" problem, it's systematic. Also one of the team's most visible leaders and clearly well-liked.

I think Eastern Washington University graduated their QB this year. Maybe they are looking for a replacement.
