I think that is a total misapplication of credit, at least in this case. June probably didn't make any phone calls, I was just pointing out how ridiculous it was to credit the fruits of Jeff's hard work almost completely to June, as if he needed a phone call or he wouldn't have gotten it by himself. Like he had to beg for a recommendation from June who benevolently bestowed it.
You read a lot more into the comment than I did. I did not see anything about a phone call, a statement that Reinebold's CFL experience had anything to do with it, or anything about the credit should go almost completely to June, you read that in yourself.
I took it as, Jeff was out of coaching for a number of years before June hired him in Hawaii. He coached for 5-6 years under June. Perhaps the poster was just alluding to the fact that June helped Jeff out by helping him get back into coaching, Jeff stayed loyal to June by working for him for 6 years, and then got this opportunity.

I just knew he was gone.
I really like him.
Good luck to him.

And then there was one, recruiter that is. Figured he would be the odd man out with Phillips coming in.

His statement implied, "If you stay loyal to June, you'll reap rewards. See what happens when you you stick with June?" It's very clear. Jeff worked hard, wanted to be a HC, pursued an opportunity and earned it, and is headed back to the CFL. Trying to credit June for this just seems so forced.

If you don't count being the top special teams coach in NFL Europe as coaching, then yes, Jeff wasn't coaching. For some random reason he was selected as NFL Europe's Senior Manager of International Player Development. True, he did take a pay cut and quit this job in order to pursue a graduate assistant position at Hawaii, which June gave him, but he was hardly a down and out or unaccomplished coach when he did.

Tell me, which team does the Senior Manager of International Player Development coach for?

How would that strengthen your point? He coached NFL Europe for 4 years and was a NFL Senior Manager for less than year before going to Hawaii. Would you consider that "a number years out of coaching"?

To be honest, I looked at his wikipedia page which had a gap in his resume box. I saw that he took that role in player development in 2005, but missed the part where he was coaching over there in between winnipeg and taking that job.
Does not undermine the point that you were reaching to say that the poster was giving the credit for Jeff's new job almost all to June or that anyone said anything about a phone call from June.
If that is how you read it, we should just agree to disagree.
