Probably a loss in bball but an easy win in football. Helps us get to a bowl game in 2013.

I would think USM would be an add from a geographic standpoint, then another west school...far west...thinking Utah-type of west, too.

I'm sorry LA Mustang. Memphis is super awesome and safe. I can't wait to be there at 2AM! I might leave my car running while I take in the sights!

Good luck with that. Your original little jab at Memphis is just stupid and brings nothing to the discussion, and is not even funny. Guess what? Most big cities are dangerous have rough areas - Memphis, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Chicago. But Memphis is also a great city to visit, as are most other big cities. Maybe the Big East should invite Pepperdine because you walk around Malibu flashing 100s and not be bothered at all.

Are the BB only schools on board with all of the BE expansion? Are they the ones that are driving the expansion. Anyone have any insight to this?

I'm sure the Memphis addition is to appease the bball schools. Let's be honest, UCF, SMU and UofH does nothing for basketball, and while football still drive these moves, this conference and most of its fans LOVE basketball. I'm still surprised they aren't adding SDSU in basketball. That program has emerged as one of the best on the west coast.

Basketball travel would have been to costly and tough on the players for SDSU.

I am guessing the cost of coast to coast travel expenses was a major factor for the the BB schools. SMU and Houston, I am guessing, was pushing the limits, travel wise.

Welcome Memphis! Good move. I say no to ECU. Small market, in a state overwhelmed by the ACC. Go West young men, go West. BYU, Air Force, Fresno, UNLV in that order for the Bigger East. I expect Memphis football to improve greatly now.
