I didn't post it necessarily to sling mud. SMU has had 4-5 visible drug related deaths on campus in the past 5-6 years, and with how tight-lipped and secretive SMU PD is, the real number is probably much much higher. But a sting operation and a bust of 17 "drug/weapons dealers" is a pretty big deal. If it means TCU loses 4 players and "one major star", it's certainly relevant here. TCU is going into the Big12 with title aspirations and doesn't think our rivalry is worth a sh*t, so yeah, I think it can go on Ponyfans.
Any links listing names or even apparently solid inside sources stating the names of those involved? I mean we are talking about serious allegations before we start trashing them

"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
That would be a major blow to that program. Even I don't wish that kind of misfortune on them. Plus, if we beat them again, all we'll hear about is how the corrupt investigators were and how it cost them the game.
It's awful when you turn a flashlight to the dark corners of a winning program. I want to win really bad but I also want to win the right way with the right type of guys. I wonder how our program would stand up to the same inspection? Do you think we have guys on our teams that are selling more than adderall?

This type of thing is very sad and can happen anywhere. Unfortunately, college students are at the perfect age to screw up their lives. . .old enough to get themselves in all kinds of trouble, but young enough that they don't have the wisdom to steer clear of it.
As Stallion pointed out, the relevant piece of this story for this board is the extent to which this incident will result in current TCU football players no longer being on the team. It will be interesting to see.
Every school in America has issues with drugs, including our own. We have had a couple of high profile instances in years past, but SMU has taken it serious and appears to have made tremendous progress. As for the TCU story, This isn't simply people who have a substance abuse problem. TCU had 17 people arrested for DEALING drugs. I have never heard of a drug raid this large at any other university. Over the last few years, I have felt like TCU has made a great deal of positive progress, but this reminds me of all the reasons I am an SMU fan. To have such a large group of dealers at their school speaks to the caliber of student they have been recruiting for the last few years. TCU has a huge problem on their hands with this new revelation and I hope they choose to be proactive about it, rather than to just say this was a case of a few bad apples slipping through the cracks.
Not just "dealers"..."major dealers"...of drugs...and weapons. Sure, I can imagine 17 students who use/sell drugs on SMU's campus. I can't imagine 17 major drugs and weapons dealers. But I roomed in Virginia-Snider so I may not be "in the know".
