I don't know much about any of them, but after doing a little Googling on each of the names you list here, I think getting Phillips would be a coup.

Give me an AD that has successfully marketed a school's athletic program in a competitive urban environment. Being able to overcome student apathy is a plus.

No question that SMU must be able to finally Market its football and basketball programs not only to Dallas, but its own students in order to have a chance to be successful at a higher level. Hopefully a new AD will work hard to get the students involved and Ask Students to take a leadership roll in the process.
