We hammered Patterson because he was being a d'bag and deflecting culpability on reporters and society instead of on himself, his staff, his team. He was also eluding to test numbers that were clearly non-sensical. TCU and SMU are both private universities who each can (mostly) tell the press to shove it if we want. When TCU wouldn't reveal the actual numbers, I don't think any of us felt that somehow SMU would if put in the same position. We do feel, or hope at least, that if put there our coach wouldn't be calling it a generational epidemic or patronizing reporters: What if we tested you? Our response wasn't "air out your laundry TCU", it was "GP, what a manipulative [deleted]" and "there's no way that situation was as contained as they are claiming".

I just hope it surfaces that Steve O. was fired due to a personality and power conflict with RGT, and nothing more. I hope there were not any violations or infractions involved.

Unless Orsini was fired for dealing drugs or some similar CRIME your comparison is stupid.

No infractions involved. Situation based entirely on O's ego, claiming credit for success that was done behind the scenes by the C of C, Athletic Committee and Turner particularly as it pertained to Big East membership. Claiming success for mistakes when other bailed him out. In addition, conflict with JJ for the last 2 years causing JJ to look at MD and AZ to get away from him, leaks involving the basketball search involving Williams and Majures and his failure to make any contact with or acknowledge Larry Brown for over 3 weeks when LB initiated contact the day after Doh was fired. Big East and basketball situation rankled members of C of C who held back support and $$$$. O in conflict with his own staff for the last 2 years. Lastly, O's ego and rationalizations caused immediate loss of respect and support of LB. Turner had no choice as O had antagonized virtually everyone, lost the support and respect both of JJ and LB, lost the respect of his staff and Turner had tired of trying to pacify and continually rebuild bridges. Not sure of what final straw might have been; however, O was on notice from Turner and at best was a short timer and would not have lasted more than a few months.

But... but... the old guys on the board who haven't been a student in decades said there was a massive conspiracy against athletics directed by Turner! And isn't Turner possessed by the spirit of some mythical creature named Pye that became President before I was born? They said Orsini was our savior fighting these evil forces that I somehow never ever saw during my time on campus a few years back!

You mean it's all circlejerk [deleted]?! I CAN'T TRUST ANYONE ANYMORE

To the people that seem to think Turner wants to kill athletics, when has he not been in lock step with the C of C. Sounds like Turner knows who writes the checks and SO started to think he was the one laying the golden eggs.

Turner serves at the discretion of the board and major donors, and for now donors want athletics and Turner seems to be doing his job bringing in as much money as possible to the school and raising overall quality.

Finally, a logical explanation of what happened. Certainly believable that SO could rankle the CoC and Administration, if this is true. Perhaps we'll make even greater strides if all are on the same page.

Wait, does that mean JJ isn't as evil as we all think he is?

Thanks for sharing. I had heard some very similar things in relation to LB. Hadn't heard the other items. And didn't think JJ having a wandering eye was had anything to do with SO.
