Does anyone know if he played football at Bethune Cookman? I don't see any information on him from their Team Guides.

Lowe has the potential to significantly upgrade our young OL and adds an experienced stabilizing force to bookend with Gottschalk and/or Collins and McJunkin in the middle. To be successful early in the season, I thought it would be necessary to add a JUCO lineman or two. The addition of Lowe is overachievement in the biggest way by Jones & Co.

I am sure you read the Rivals article and know that Derek Longoria was the one that turned Coach Palcic on to him and helped recruit him. A big thanks should go out to Derek. As far as June bashing is concerned, his record over the next couple of years will speak for itself either positively or negatively. No need to jab because it will all come out in the wash so to speak.

Ok, looks like he was on the Roster for Tyler CC for the 2010 season, then transferred to Bethune-Cookman for the 2011 Season, now SMU for 2012. The kid's got to have some frequent flier miles saved up :)

Sorry if I'm re-inventing the wheel here.

An equally important side benefit of this transfer is that this gives us more flexibility with respect to when and how June works our young OLs into the game. Allows us to ease them in when the flow of the game warrants it.

Not at all. I guess he played at both Tyler and B-C, one year each. B-C is a four year university, so it must be alright to transfer up to Div 1 without penalty. At LSU he was a redshirt for his only year.

Nope. I don't subscribe to Rivals. Just reporting what is readily available everywhere on the www.

Now someone is pointing out that he may not have played at all at B-C last year, but sat out. Not my day to guess, I guess.

Derek deserves some huge accolades on this one for sure.

Sat out? Surely he was good enough to start for Bethune-Cookman last year. Do you have a link that point to the article where he sat out last year?

Given the information available on the web (From Tyler JC, and B-C), and my limited understanding of eligibility for transfers, it seems that the most likely scenario is that he redshirted at LSU in 2009. He played for Tyler in 2010, then he stayed at Tyler to finish his JC requirements but did not play. So, he graduates from Tyler and arrives this year at SMU as a JC transfer with 2 years to play 2.

I'm guessing that he never did transfer to B-C, as that would have made him ineligible to play this year at SMU.

Someone looked up B-C's games last year and couldn't find him mentioned in their rivalry game, leading him to believe he never joined the team at all. I don't know. At this point I am not even sure he ever went to B-C, but he may have indeed stayed and played two years at Tyler or simply attended B-C for a year without joining the team. It will be interesting to find out.

On the other board, someone is a friend of his and says that he never went to B-C at all. In fact he may have not played at all last year, even at Tyler JC as another poster could not find him on the roster for '11/'12 season.

Yeah, that was me. I suspect he was going to transfer, but something changed so he stayed. I'm not sure why he doesn't show up on the 2011 Roster. I hope that nobody thinks that my curiosity at all dampens my enthusiasm for the kid. He's a big kid that needed a change of scenery. We have done right by several transfers in the past, and it looks like a great fit all around. If he comes in and performs to potential, he could wind up in the NFL (I know that it is way to early to make a judgment on that). Jones puts Olinemen into the NFL, that's been his strongest draft position since Hawaii.

I was just excited to find out more about him, and came up with some missing pieces.

SMU does have a tradition of putting our Juco transfers into the NFL.

See starting Patriots DB Sterling Moore as well as Redskins DB Richard Crawford.

Welcome to the Hilltop biggin'!!
