Honestly, don't see any worse than 9-3, which will end up 11-3. Can't wait!

I'd like to say 8-4 or 9-3, but I don't think it'll happen. Will be happy to go to another bowl. Hate to say it, but it would not surprise me if we have a typical SMU head hanging tank the season performance because of the ASU-June Jones catastrophe. Do I want it to happen? Absolutely not, but it would not surprise me...

Since the ASU problem, we didn't have any head hanging against Pittsburgh like they did. Our biggest issue this year is how will the OL and the QB situation turn out ?

I always "hope for the best", but, we'll have to pull off a huge upset to avoid a 1-3 start. Then we go to El Paso, where we haven't won since 1996.

I don’t really think there is a hang-over on the ASU deal with the players or the current coaches … they are pumped for this season. Mason would like to get started tomorrow. I think we win one of the big 3 and maybe sneak a second one in …. Upsets.. yes, but I don’t think Huge ones. Why? … Our "D" is better this year … both my opinion and Mason’s words (the development of Margus and all 4 LB’s coming back, Pitman, Spike, Acker etc), and not to stir the debate again, but a lot of depth on the "D" to boot. We are all waiting for the GG era to begin (I predict he lights it up) and the "O" line gels well enough that the offense with GG and a healthy Zach, exp at WR, will be better than any we have had since Coach Jones arrived.
I like the DC’s 8-4 prediction and winning the conference Champ (9-4 going into a Bowl) as the lower end of the bar… that is w/o winning one of the Big 3 (I think we win at least one) and losing to UTEP (I think we break that streak this year). We have not won there since 1996 as pointed out …. But, was it not "93" when we last beat TCU in Forth Worth until this past season? I don’t know for sure, but I think I have heard that. I like what I see going into the season … I think we will all be happy/proud and some pleasantly surprised.

Three strong B12 teams, UTEP in the Paso and two of the top CUSA East teams. We still have that Houston winless streak and a dogfight with Tulsa. We will be vindicated or exposed with this schedule. Lots of losing streaks to break just to get to 4 wins out of these 8. Let's do it boys; proving time!

Year five, we sure as shoot better be beating teams like UTEP. I know we haven't won there in 15 years, but that's why we're investing the resources we're investing in this program. Year five, we better not be losing to a perennially mediocre UTEP squad. Yeah, they're strong at home. Yeah, we have a bad history at a lot of stadiums that aren't our own. But still, enough. Get it done. We want to take the next step, we start wiping the floor with teams like UTEP. No more excuses.

That's right, I think the great John Hampton had a good game too. If I'm wrong, sue me.

The big break in the 2012 schedule was TCU's disasterous offseason which has seen 8 players who had legitimate shots at starting leave the team unrelated to graduation. You get them at home-better take advantage. CUSA has no team that appears to be nationally competitive-most every top QB graduated. CUSA is a jump ball but IF Gilbert comes in and plays like a polished, experienced QB I could see SMU having a chance to take this to the house.

Not sure how we will fair, but it would great to see Line finish the entire season healthy and break some records along the way.
