This is a great pick-up for SMU. As a TCU fan, I've been following this for some time. Gaines was the first TE Patterson offered and IMO, the best. Gaines probably lost his TCU scholarship offer when Charlie Reid committed to the Frogs. The other TE TCU (Bryson Burtnett) picked up was a luxury pickup as much for long snapping as for TE play. But like I said, Gains IMO is the best of the bunch.
